8 Once most of the mosquito season has passed and the high lakes are ready to be visited, kids can take their fishing poles and try to catch some fish. Lakes offer an opportunity for kids to perfect their casting and provide endless entertainment. Stop by the Middle Fork Ranger station and choose from dozens of printed trail descriptions for this district. Some of our favorite kid lake hikes include Blue Lake, Happy Lake, Bobby Lake, Betty Lake, Swan Lake, the Erma Bell Lakes and Corrigan Lake. These are all relatively easy and range in length from 0.5 mile to just over 5 miles.
