The brand in the dog presented read Q4239 - 74G, while the registration papers showed Q4239 - 74B. Stewards noted the greyhound presented was red brindle and not brindle as recorded. On February 13, stewards visited the kennels of Mr QUALITY BRICK HOME ON 5 ACRES - DESIGNER BUILT $410,000 Paul Felgate of Alberton. Upon inspection of several greyhounds, it was discovered the ear brand for Rhythmic Affair had been recorded on the registration certificate for the greyhound known as Superlative. The ear brand for Superlative Q4239 - 74B was recorded on the registration certificate of Rhythmic Affair. Stewards noted they were from the same litter and had very similar markings. In discovering the mix-up in certificates, it would appear stewards and club officials incorrectly identified Superlative, which competed in Vince Curry qualifying trial 19, at kenneling, prior to the trial and at the conclusion of the trial. The ear brand recorded on the registration certificate of Superlative was Q4239 - 74B with the brand in the greyhound’s ear reading Q4239 - 74G. They NeedCredibility Me IT’S not often Tom Noble makes Pretty Wanderer mistakes with dogs, but he almost did a couple of years ago when it came to breeding with smart shortcourser Absolute Young Guns (544m) Chaos. Cairns Noble had raced the Cry Havoc-They 1 APRIL FURY $1.30 Need Me bitch with great success. Absolute Chaos won 15 races during (November Fury-Absolute Chaos) her 38-start career for the Noble kennel. Owner-trainer: Judy Olsen. Young Guns ... She’s from the damline made famous by 2 SALTWATER PETE $3 Judy Olsen with Fifi She’s Not and her daughter Pretty (November Fury-Absolute Chaos) April Fury Wanderer but she was a pretty fair 3 KING AND I $9 (Cairns winner) sprinter herself. (Token Prince-Star Puzzle) and husband She did a lot of racing in the north and Others: 4 Bushland Babe $9, 5 Next Robert with Bone at one time won six in a row at Ipswich Rocketeer $9, 6 Complete Chaos $4, 7 At Dust (Townsville over 431m, running as quick as 25.20secs. Jay Racer $10, 8 Rachie $3.60. winner). She also won three in Townsville, two Time: 32.81. in Cairns and one in Ayr as well as her nine at Ipswich. “Tom was not going to breed with her, so I asked him to have her for breeding,” said Townsville’s Robert Olsen. Tom was happy to do so, but wanted a couple from the litter. “I picked out History Lesson as her first mate, but right at the last minute, we switched and went to November fury,” said Olsen. Lucky for Olsen he did. The litter is exceptional and while only winning short course events to this stage, they could not be more impressive and includes recent 544m Cairns Young Guns winner April Fury, as well as boom Townsville speedster Bone Dust. April Fury downed littermate Saltwater Pete to win the Young Guns final. “Tom wasn’t going to breed with the bitch, but Tom also doesn’t want to miss out on anything, that’s why he took a few pups from this litter,” said Robert, whose wife Judy owns and trains April Fury. Tom got two of the November Fury- Absolute Chaos litter and one races as brilliant sprinter Absolute Fury already a winner at Albion Park. “He’s also got two that qualified for the second round of the Vince Curry,” said Robert. “One of Tom’s pups hurt a toe when he was a baby, so we sent him another one on a half share.” Absolute Chaos has since gone back to Noble for her second litter, by Big Daddy Cool of which the Olsens have two. She will head back north for her next mating and this time Robert plans to send her to Bombastic Shiraz to continue the Black Shiraz sireline. Of April Fury, Robert says no-one wanted the dog as a pup because he was the runt of the litter. “We got stuck with him, but he has really come on and looks to be the one that will run distance,” he said. “While the rest of the litter, specially Bone Dust, were winning over 380m at Townsville, he was already up to the 498 metres. “But he really blossomed when we stepped up his distances.” The Olsens have prolific winner Owey racing in the Noble kennel at Albion Park but plan to bring him home when the rich country cups circuit gets underway mid- year. “But dogs like April Fury will be great for those races as well,” he said. Bone Dust is the star of the litter having won 10 of 12 starts (to time of writing). “But April Fury will get 600m and might even run further,” said Olsen. The (March, 2006) Journal Page 36
