Leightman has also been involved with the Olympic Development Program since 2002 as a United States Youth Soccer Region I staff coach at the U-13 and U-14 levels, and was the JEFF LEIGHTMAN Director of Coaching for the BC United Fusion, a premier girl’s Head Coach youth soccer program. In all, Leightman has worked at the collegiate level for the past 15 years, having coached a nationally-ranked NCAA Division III program, a regionally-ranked Division I Big East Conference pro- gram at Villanova University and a Division I national champion at the University of North Carolina prior to coaching a Division II power- house and Division I America East champion and NCAA Championship partic- ipant at Binghamton. At Binghamton, Leightman seamlessly transi- tioned the program from a mediocre Division III team into a regionally-ranked Division I force. The 2004 America East title and NCAA Championship berth came in just the Bearcats’ fourth season at the Division I level. In 1998, Leightman’s first year in charge at Binghamton and the program’s first year in Division II following a move up from Division III, the Bearcats were ranked nationally and finished with a 14-3-1 record and an Eastern College Athletic Conference Leightman’s coaching career began at Binghamton as an (ECAC) crown. Spartan Stadium, which seats 30,456, is the home for San Jose State women’s soccer, men’s soccer and football. The multi-purpose facility is the site of the school’s annual commencement ceremony. The Koret Athletic Training Center, opened in November, 2001, is a state-of-the-art facility that encompasses over 10,000 square feet of training space, and is located adjacent to Spartan Stadium and the athletic locker rooms. The Koret Athletic Training Center also contains a 1,000- square-foot rehabilitation and training room that services physical therapy and sport-specific rehabilitation. The facility enables the sports medicine staff of athletic trainers, doctors and physical therapists to provide the best possible care to help prevent and rehabilitate injuries.
