Directory of Fire Safe Certified Brand Styles Update April 7, 2021

Cigarette brands and styles that are imported, stamped, and/or sold in the State of Alaska must be certified as fire safe by the State Fire Marshall and be marked as fire safe on the packaging per Alaska Statute 18.74. The brands and styles listed below have been certified as fire safe. The certification is valid for three years from the certification date. In order for to be sold in Alaska, the brand and style must be certified as fire safe under AS 18.74.010 and the manufacturer must be in compliance with AS 45.53.020 (see MSA Compliant Manufacturers). Cigarettes that do not meet both criteria are not in compliance with AS 43.53.020 and cannot be sold in Alaska and are contraband and subject to seizure and destruction. Violations of AS 45.53.020 may also be punished by revocation of a license issued under AS 43.50.010, 43.50.035, or 43.50.320 and imposition of civil and criminal penalties.
