The Racers’ 2014-15 season was another historic campaign that saw MSU become the fi rst team in school history to go undefeated in the OVC at 16-0. The Racers also set the school and OVC record with a 25-game win streak that was second in the nation. MSU fi nished 29-6 and advanced to the quarterfi nals of the National Invitation Tournament.

In McMahon’s fi rst season with the Racers in 2011-12, he was part of an amazing run that saw the Racers go 31-2, gain a national top-10 ranking and No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Racers won a game in the NCAA’s and were the fi nal undefeated team in the nation at 23-0.

McMahon was involved with the Racers’ 2013-14 season when they won the CollegeInsider Tournament championship and fi nished 23-11.

In his six seasons at MSU, McMahon has coached an impressive group of All-Ohio Valley Conference performers including Isaiah Canaan, Donte Poole, Ivan Aska, Ed Daniel, Jarvis Williams, Cameron Payne and Jeffery Moss. In the 2016-17 season, McMahon coached All-OVC talents Jonathan Stark and Terrell Miller. At Appalachian State, McMahon coached Southern Conference MVP Donald Sims as well as All- Conference picks Jeremy Clayton and D.J. Thompson. At UNCW, McMahon recruited Adam Smith, a Parade Second Team All-America selection.

Birthdate: Feb. 16, 1984 Nichols joined the program at Murray State after assisting at Hofstra under coach Joe Hometown: Radford, Va. Mihalich for two seasons including a 20 win 2014-15 campaign. He also assisted Mihalich Education: Wofford in the 2012-13 season at Niagara. Prior to his move to Niagara, Nichols served as an Degree: Sociology assistant coach at his alma mater, Wofford, where the Terriers advanced to the 2011 NCAA High School: Radford Tournament. Family: Wife-Jamonika Brother-Darris Quickly establishing himself as an outstanding recruiter and developer of talent in the college ranks, Nichols was impressive as a player and has taken that knowledge and has become a valuable part to a program in teaching the game to the student-athletes he coaches.

Nichols was a quick study under great coaches like Mike Young at Wofford and Joe Mihalich at Hofstra and Niagara.

As a three-year starter at Wofford, he scored 1,482 points in his career and was a multiple All-Southern Conference selection.

He earned a degree in sociology from Wofford in 2008.

Shane and his wife Jamonika are newlyweds, having exchanged vows in the summer of 2017.

Tim Kaine Assistant Coach 3rd Season at MSU Tim Kaine (pronounced cane) begins his third season with the Racers as an assistant coach AABOUTBOUT TIMTIM KAINEKAINE in the 2017-18 season. Birthdate: Dec. 6, 1977 He joined the Murray State program after serving as an assistant in the 2014-15 season Hometown: Oak Ridge, Tenn. at Georgia Southern. Kane has carved out a career in college basketball which includes six Education: Winthrop & Austin Peay seasons at Florida Atlantic. Prior to his time at Florida Atlantic, Kaine coached at Winthrop, Degree: Sport Management 2002 Austin Peay, Newberry College and Guilford College. Health & Performance 2003 High School: Oak Ridge He brings 13 years of college experience to Murray State and is an important asset to the Family: Wife: Jenny Kaine Racer team. Well known and respected, Kaine has served at every level of the game. Kaine graduated from Winthrop in 2002 with a degree in sports management and then earned a master’s degree in sport management from Austin Peay in 2003.

Before playing at Winthrop, Kaine played at UT Martin for Racer coaching legend .

A native of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Kaine is married to the former Jenny Ashworth and the couple has two children, Tory (5) and Avery (2).

Casey Long Assistant Coach 1st Season at MSU Hired in June, Casey Long joined the Racers in time for summer workouts and the 2017-18 AABOUTBOUT CASEYCASEY LLONGONG season. Birthdate: He comes to Murray State after serving on staff of Coach Will Wade for two seasons at VCU Hometown: Leesville, Louisiana, (2015-17). Before that, Long was an assistant at his alma mater, Chattanooga (2012-15). Education: Chattanooga Degree: Political Science (2007) While at VCU, Long was part of a successful two seasons. In the 2015-16 season, the Rams High School: shared the Atlantic 10 Conference title and in the 2016-17 season, they fi nished second. In Family: Wife-Co’chea two seasons, VCU was 51-20 overall and 18-8 in the A-10 and made back-to-back NCAA Daughter-Catalina (2) appearances.

As a student-athlete at Chattanooga, Long had an amazing career. He is the only player in program history to fi nish his career with more than 1000 points, 450 rebounds, and 350 assists.

Out of Leesville, Louisiana, Long graduated with a degree in political science from Chattanooga in 2017.

He is married to the former Co’chea Rivera. The couple has a daughter, Catalina (2).
