MAP77 CanBus Vehicle Security System INSTALLATION E N INSTALLATION MANUAL GENERAL NOTES Mongoose MAP77 CAN Vehicle Security System (VSS) is intended to use in all combustion engine cars, with 12V supply system and negative ground. Mongoose MAP77 CAN security system must be installed according to manufacturer’s requirements and documentation. It is suggested to install the security system only by an authorized person or company. List of authorised installers can be obtained from manufacturer or distributor of Mongoose MAP77 CAN. It should be checked, if installation certificate, delivered with the system has been filled in by installer. System is compatible with CAN bus traffic in most modern vehicles. However, the VSS central unit has to be programmed for a given make and model of a car before installation in order to work properly. Default setting is for Volkswagen Golf V/Golf VI, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Passat B6, Volkswagen Touran, Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Octavia II, Skoda Superb Seat Leon, Toledo, Volkswagen Golf VI and others. Installer must fulfil all the general requirements concerning safety at work during car service procedures. Before installing the vehicle security system the negative terminal of battery must be disconnected. If for some reasons disconnecting battery is impossible, during the installation the cable loom must be disconnected from VSS central unit. All the connections must be isolated, the wires must be protected against abrasion to prevent any short circuit the vehicles electronics. Installed VSS central unit must not be exposed for contact with water, petrol, grease, oil, and other chemical substances. It is suggested to place central unit in a well hidden place inside the car, preferably under dashboard. Central unit should be attached with straps or screws to a flat surface. Siren should be installed in engine chamber in a place, where it is protected from extensive dirt and direct flow of water. PROGRAMMABLE AND OPTIONAL FEATURES OF Mongoose MAP77 CAN bus control In some cars, MAP77 can control the vehicle electric systems via CAN bus by sending dedicated commands - it can blink the direction indicators, roll-up windows Ignition switch state detection methods The VSS can detect ignition switch state via two methods: 1. CAN-bus ignition switch state detection - reads the switch status via CAN This method is very convenient as it does not require finding the ignition circuit in the car. 2. Additional analogue detection of ignition switch state (connect the orange wire to ignition circuit). This increases the protection against e.g. CAN-bus tamper. Additional analogue detection of ignition switch state (connect the orange wire to ignition circuit). This increases the protection against e.g. CAN-bus tamper. IMPORTANT! For some vehicles, the MAP77 VSS uses the orange wire to monitor the additional analogue status signals. Check the installation diagram for particular vehicles. In these vehicles the orange wire CANNOT be connected to ignition circuit. It MUST be connected according to installation diagram. Dual function line/programmable lines Some inputs/outputs are configureable and change their function depending on VSS configuration. The orange wire can be analogue ignition signal or trunk release actuator positive input or central door locking analogue status positive signal input. The brown wire can act as pager ground output (active when alarming), pulsed pager output (pulsed output when alarming), as CAN bus reverse gear signal output (for park sensor modules)as additional immobilisation NC relay output or as central door locking analogue status negative signal input. Rear 3-pole connector function is configureable. It can work as additional sensor alarm input, additional sensor prealarm input, RF receiver module connector and as an output of windows roll-up signal. Rear 3 pole connector input (blue wire in connector) can act as alarm triggering input, as prealarm input or as communication line to RF module. Rear 3 pole connector ground signal (black wire) can be switched on when armed, can be used as windows roll-up analogue output or as a constant ground for RF module. Always check the installation diagram for particular vehicle! CAN bus ignition signal or CAN bus bonnet signal inhibit In spite of the efforts put on measurement of the vehicles, sometimes, on very rare model variants of vehicles, CAN bus signals are different than on popular models and thus lead to improper operation of VSS. In order to preserve operation of VSS, there is a possibility to inhibit (block) reading of ignition signal and bonnet switch signal from CAN bus. CAN Ignition/accessory position signal blocking is usefull when false alarms from IGN are noted in VSS memory or the VSS cannot be armed due to constant false ignition/accessory signal. Bonnet signal inhibit can be usefull when the vehicle not equipped with bonnet switch sends CAN information as the bonnet was opened, chirping everytime the VSS is armed. OEM alarm detection If car is equipped with the OEM security system, start of OEM alarm cycle can trigger alarming in Mongoose MAP77 VSS. That feature allows MAP77 to protect car using OEM motion detector and OEM towing detector. IMPORTANT: In case the OEM motion detector is ultrasonic (e.g. VW Passat, Seat Ibiza) it can interfere with MAP77 ultrasonic motion detector (false alarms). In such case, do not connect ultrasonic transmitter and receiver to MAP77 and enable OEM alarm detection. Power windows MAP77 can roll-up OEM power windows after VSS arming. Windows roll-up time is configured. Setting roll-up time and enabling CAN bus control allow to roll-up windows via CAN in some cars (e.g. VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda, Mercedes, Mitsubishi vehicles). If additional RF / analogue output module is installed, roll-up time prolongs pulse length on central door locking negative control output of module. Third option is to enable windows roll-up and configure rear 3-pole connector ground signal (black wire) as switched analogue windows roll-up ground signal. Audible confirmation of VSS arming / disarming. VSS can confirm disarming and /or arming by short siren chirps. Audible confirmation options are: none / arming and disarming / arming only. MONGOOSE MAP77 CAN CONFIGURATION SOFTWARE FOR PC Central unit is programmed via a dedicated PC software and a mini USB cable. When the unit is connected for the first time, USB device drivers will be automatically installed. System will ask where the drivers are located on disc. Software is easy and intuitive to operate. The software can: select vehicle make and model set the sensivity of ultrasonic motion sensor enable vehicle control by CAN enable OEM alarm detection select siren type (analogue, digital, speaker horn) enable and set windows roll-up signal time configure the function of rear 3-pole connector configure the audible confirmation of setting / unsetting configure the brown wire output function (if it is not used in a given vehicle as status input - see wiring diagram for particular vehicle) enable ignition safety door lock enable passive arming with / without automatic
