J.S. is a former professional goaltender who played in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Los Angeles Kings. Aubin was originally drafted 76th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. J.S. finished his career playing in Europe, where he was selected as the DEL Goalie of the Year in 2010.

JASON JEROME Director, Penguins Performance Training

Originally from Aurora, IL, Jason earned his Master’s Degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Miami in 2006. Since 2010, Jason has served as the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Athletic Development for IMPACT PERFORMANCE, founded in Boca Raton, FL. That opportunity provided Jason access to train 1000’s of athletes, be an Athletic Trainer for multiple professional sports organizations, and run the NHL Combine for four years. Early in Jason’s career, he was employed by the University of Miami and responsible for rehabilitating Olympic, professional, and collegiate athletes from various sports including football, track and field, and volleyball. A major highlight of Jason’s time at the “U” was serving as a Core Training specialist for the track and field program as well as working with numerous alumni from the NFL and MLB. Jason is a proud supporting member of the National Athletic Training Association (NATA).

Amber Martinelli is coming to us from NovaCare Rehabilitation where she worked at Upper Saint Clair High School as well as in the industrial setting. She is a graduate of Capital University where she was a successful player. Amber worked with a high school hockey team during her time as a college student athletic trainer. She currently resides in the North Hills. In her free time, Amber enjoys ice skating, especially stick time, and attending Penguin games.

Pittsburgh Penguins Elite has assembled a coaching staff comprised of premier coaching talent from across North America to lead the program, many of whom played the game at the highest levels. The coaching staff follows an age-specific progression plan designed to provide players with the ability to achieve their individual potential while emphasizing the team-first environment.

Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 18U, 16U, 15U and 14U (boys) teams compete against many of the top youth hockey programs in the country. Starting this year Buffalo Jr. Sabres, Detroit Little Cesars and Chicago Mission will join Pittsburgh Penguins Elite in home/home showcases. With significant visibility, top level talent, and elite coaching, playing a competitive schedule provides young, talented players with the opportunity to advance their careers.

Pittsburgh Penguins Elite youth teams, along with all of our girls teams, play an independent schedule which provides each team with the flexibility to create a competitive schedule, while managing team game count and travel costs.

MID-WINTER CLASSIC Over 50 teams from as far away as Florida and Canada descended upon Pittsburgh from December 20-22 to play in the Mid- Winter Classic. The tournament provides both Tier 1 and Tier 2 girls teams from around North America an opportunity to compete over the holiday break. The tournament features competition in the 10U, 12U and 14U age groups. The tournament is a testament to the growth of women’s hockey and the popularity of the sport both locally and nationally.

14 SPECIAL EVENTS & UNIQUE EXPERIENCES Throughout the year many of our Penguins Elite players are able to participate in unique experiences. Many are provided the chance to practice at PPG Paints Arena and participate in Penguins home game activities. Also, in the past, players have been asked to assist with the NHL Entry Draft, Winter Classic and Stadium Series. Each month this year, two Penguins Elite players were recognized as “Teammates of The Month” and provided two tickets each to a Pittsburgh Penguins game. In addition, many of our teams had an opportunity to practice at PPG Paints Arena. This past year, we also hosted a girls clinic which corresponded with the NWHL game between Metropolitan Riveters and Connecticut Whale. The clinic provided Penguins Elite girls a chance to learn from the pros. Furthermore, each Pittsburgh Penguins Elite player receives age-specific training programs from some of the top off-ice professionals and the ability to participate and host games, tournaments and showcase events in state-of-the-art facilities.

VALUE The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite organization is proud to have DICK’S Sporting Goods as our corporate partner. This relationship provides many advantages for each family. The funding provided by DICK’S Sporting Goods and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation has reduced player participation fees by nearly 18% annually. In addition, DICK’S Sporting Goods provides free game jerseys and socks, practice jerseys and socks, pant shells, warmups and equipment bags to players each season. All registered participants will be evaluated by members of the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite coaching staff and Professional Hockey Staff at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.
