The next house is being built before the old one is abandoned. When the run on the dollar begins, it will be as if the rest of the world declared war on the United States of America by launching a missile, dropping a bomb, or landing an army at Bethany Beach, Delaware. That this will lead ultimately to widespread global warfare seems certain. This is exactly the way the administration is setting it up to appear to the American people. Think of 9/11 times fifty. The rest of the world is merely defending itself with non-violent means - for the moment. But it will be portrayed as an attack upon the US. "Why?" George Bush will ask, rhetorically. "They hate us because of our freedom." And, barring a miracle, the end results will be exactly the same as from a physical attack: devastation so complete and unthinkable - magnified by the brutal impacts of Peak Oil - that only a few will even try to prepare for it. That is sad because preparation will make all the difference (barring luck or divine intervention) in who survives and to what extent they remain intact and functioning afterwards.

However, in order to pre-empt OPEC, they need to gain geo-strategic control of Iraq along with its 2nd largest proven oil reserves. Those words by Thomas Jefferson embody the unfortunate state of affairs that have beset our nation. As our government prepares to go to war with Iraq, our country seems unable to answer even the most basic questions about this upcoming conflict.

    The Road Less Traveled: A Choice for Fundamental Personal Change Change is inevitable. And it is necessary. Having the ability to adapt to new environments and situations has been humanity’s greatest asset. It is my belief that we, as a human civilization, have come to a tipping point because of our advancements in science and technology combined with our modern way of living, especially a desire to acquire wealth without regard for other people or the planet as a whole. We must, once again, use our greatest skill and adjust our behaviors to fit within the means of the current world that we helped shape. Our social, political, economic, educational and environmental systems are in disrepair and need to be transformed. One look at the news will give you a clue of what I’m talking about: child rape and prostitution, domestic violence, protests on every continent demanding social justice, countless wars, blatant government corruption, corporate bailouts, stock market instability, government economic defaults, Bernard Madoff’s Ponzi scheme, global warming, the ozone hole, Fukushima, Deepwater Horizon and the list goes on and on. Humanity has faced many challenges in the past but this time, with so many potential major catastrophic events looming, we need fundamental change. I believe the change that is necessary lies at the heart of each individual: to value all life more than valuing self-interests and profits. I am just a single quiet voice in proclaiming this need for a shifting global paradigm: a turn to a more sustainable way of living for the future of humanity and all life.

U. Sinclair, 1935 1. Introduction On September 11, 2001 – a Tuesday – in New York City and Washington, D.C., a crime of enormous consequence occurred. In the morning, four terrorist events took place against US targets, causing the loss of nearly 3,000 lives, almost all civilians, and laying the grounds for a decade of violations of international law by the US government and its allies in the name of the “War on Terror”. Two Boeing 767 from Boston each struck one of the two skyscrapers collectively known as the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York City. The Towers, whose construction had ended, respectively, in 1972 (the North Tower, or WTC 1) and in 1973 (the South Tower, or WTC 2), had each – 110 floors (above ground), – 417 m (WTC 1) and 415 m (WTC 2) of height, – a square basis of 63,4 m of side. WTC 1 was hit by American Airlines Flight 11 (Plane 1) at 8:45 a.m. from the north at about the 93rd floor, and collapsed at 10:28 after burning for 102 minutes. Plane 1 had left Boston at 7:59. WTC 2 was hit by United Airlines Flight 175 (Plane 2) at 9:05 a.m.
