New Majority Orange County 2018 General Election Voter Guide Dear New Majority Orange County Members, With Election Day quickly approaching on November 6th, we would like to provide the 2018 New Majority Orange County General Election Voter Guide to assist members when casting their ballots. Many voters will receive their absentee ballots this week, and while the Chapter has not taken official positions in all races and on all issues, this guide does provide members with endorsements and recommendations from other trusted partners. As a reminder, our political priorities include focusing on the targeted Congressional, State Senate, and Assembly races to protect our majority in Washington and regain Republicans’ 1/3rd margin in the State Legislature; most of these key races are right here in Orange County. Please support these candidates in any way you can and encourage family, friends and colleagues to vote. Walters, Walters for Congress (the "Federal Committee"), and Jen Slater, in her official capacity as Treasurer (collectively, "Respondents") for violating the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended (the "Act") and Federal Election Conunission (the "FEC" or "Commission") regulations, as described below. Rep. Walters appears to have illegally used her state campaign funds—^which may have included corporate money and contributions in excess of federal limits—to aid her 2014 campaign for Congress. Using California state campaign funds in a federal election undermines the Act's anti-corruption purpose of limiting contributions and keeping corporate money out of congressional elections, and the FEC should iirunediately investigate and levy appropriate sanctions against Respondents for these apparent violations.     California Elections and Community College Measures November 2016 Election Round Up November 14, 2016 OVERVIEW While the election was last week, ballots are still being counted and final certified results are due to the Secretary of State for presidential electors on December 6, 2016, and for all other state contests on December 9, 2016. The Secretary of State will certify the statewide results by December 16, 2016. Until the results are certified, the outcome of close races may change from what is presented below. Focusing on results affecting California Community Colleges, the election provided mostly positive results including the passage of the statewide bond measure, Proposition 51, as well as a number of local bonds. Californians passed several tax measures including Proposition 55, which will continue to provide funding for education. Voters in San Francisco passed an extension of the parcel tax to help fund the City College of San Francisco as well as another local measure that increases the transfer tax rate for sales of residential and commercial properties. Proponents state, that with the passage of this measure, the City of San Francisco could provide free community college. Funds from this local measure will go to the City’s general fund; however, in July, the Board of Supervisors passed a resolution making the City College of San Francisco free for residents a top priority for the new revenue. If results hold in the State Assembly, the Democrats will have gained a supermajority with three seats switching party hands. However, this could change because one of those seats remains a close contest in Assembly District 55 and all three changes are needed for a supermajority.

Summary Each year, Alameda CTC adopts a Legislative Program to provide direction for its legislative and policy activities for the year. The purpose of the Legislative Program is to establish funding, regulatory and administrative principles to guide Alameda CTC’s legislative advocacy. It is designed to be broad and flexible, allowing Alameda CTC to pursue legislative and administrative opportunities that may arise during the year, and to respond to political processes in the region as well as in Sacramento and Washington, D.C. Legislative, policy and funding partnerships throughout the Bay Area and California will be key to the success of the 2021 Legislative Program. The 2021 Alameda CTC Legislative Program retains many of the 2020 priorities and is divided into 5 sections: 1. Transportation Funding 2. Multimodal Transportation, Land Use, Safety and Equity 3. Project Delivery and Operations 4. Climate Change and Technology 5. Partnerships Attachment A details the Alameda CTC proposed 2021 Legislative Program.
