BZURA [email protected] HERMAN RAMIK Welcome to the City of Taylor and the Sportsplex! Our City is honored to again host the MAHA State Tournament. It is a privilege to welcome some of the greatest young hockey talent in the state to our facility, which we believe is one of the best in Michigan. Some of the greatest players in the world have skated here. Taylor has a long and storied sports history. We are the hometown of former Major League Baseball standout pitcher Steve Avery (an all-star, World Series champion and NLCS MVP while with the Atlanta Braves), former National Hockey League standout Wayne Presley, who played in nearly 700 NHL games and scored over 300 points, and 1984 Olympic bronze medalist Earl Jones (middle distance runner). While you and your families and friends are here, you may be lodged in our hotels, eat and drink at our restaurants and enjoy many of the attractions that we offer. Take the time to go down to “Eureka Way,” our business and entertainment district just south of the TSX, featuring Southland Center mall and new eateries like Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, BJ’s Restaurant and Tavern and Primanti Bros, among many others. Cinemark Southland Mall & XD is the most modern movie theater in the region. Just down Telegraph Road, Pete’s Place is one of the City’s best eateries, and if you are in the mood for something different, try Malek Al Kabob’s on Goddard and Pardee. The City of Taylor and the surrounding communities offer some of the best eateries and shopping opportunities available in the metropolitan Detroit area. We hope that you visit our local businesses and enjoy what they have to offer. You’ll find our City a friendly, welcoming environment. We consider it to be the “Capital” of the Downriver region. But for now, we can’t wait to see some of the best hockey in the state. Give it your best effort. Let’s drop the puck! banned the sport in a royal proclamation. However the histories of many cultures include playing games with curved sticks, dating as far back as 4,000 years ago to ancient Egyptian times. It is believed that the word hockey originates from the Middle French word ‘hoquet', which means shepherd's stave. Today there are many types of hockey, in- cluding ice hockey, field hockey, roller hockey, sledge hockey, and a favorite among kids—street hockey. Despite all the variations of when hockey was first played, the first organized hockey game played in- doors occurred in 1875, in Montreal, Canada. The NHL (National Hockey League) was established in 1917.

A young man is deemed invaluable and exalted by the public. The hero is cast into the spotlight and bestowed with insurmountable expectations. But the acclamations and pressures are burdensome and the invented savior fails to fulfill the prospects once imagined by the public. He is cast aside, disregarded as a symbol of failure or one deserving of pity. It’s the quintessential tragedy of a fallen hero. The protagonist of this report is Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg, who enjoyed a phenomenal rookie season before it ended abruptly due to a severe elbow injury.

It has been an historic World Series: The first outside the United States and the first won by a team based in Canada. And Pat "North of the" Borders was named MVP. Catchers in fact figured heavily in the course of this series. It was a World Series that demonstrated certain truisms of baseball: Good pitching dominates good hitting, and in a close series the weaknesses of a team become glaring. In both the case of the Blue Jays and the Braves this latter proposition was true.

  • Heroes and Rallies Baseball
Heroes and Rallies Baseball Setup Pick two teams to go head to head, and fill out your lineups on the scoresheet. Each team receives 8 skill assignments to give to individual players. All of the skill assignments listed below must be used within your starting lineup for a total of 8. A player may possess two assignments if you wish. Rate your lineup by placing the appropriate notation beside a player’s name on the scoresheet. 1) star hitter (H) 2) star slugger (S) 3) star runner (R) 4) star fielder (F) 5) poor hitter (H-) 6) weak hitter (S-) 7) slow runner (R-) 8) poor fielder (F-) Once a player has a skill assignment, he cannot transfer it to another player. There is one additional skill assignment available for an ace pitcher (X). You may, however, choose not to start one. Make any pitcher a poor hitter as well (H-), so there will be two poor hitters if a pitcher is in the lineup. Game Play Roll the dice for each player who comes up to bat, reading the colored die first and the white die second. If a result occurs on the Batting chart which displays an image of a ballplayer, the inning is considered finished with no further scoring. Draw an X in the box on the scoresheet representing the current hitter’s at-bat. When his team next comes up to bat, the next player in the lineup will hit. If the color of a chart result corresponds to the color of the skill assignment of the player who is currently up to bat, the result changes to the one shown on the bottom of the Batting chart.

But not quite. Francisco Cabrerra and Jose Lind saw to that. Lind's error extended the ninth inning, and Cabrerra's single ended it. Facing certain defeat the Atlanta Braves scored three runs to win 3-2 and the Pirates remain bridesmaids for the third consecutive year. Earlier in the day Toronto got a major monkey off its back by eliminating the Oakland A's. Every baseball game, every series, and every season has a certain personality or character. The National League Series won by Atlanta had a split personality. In the first two games the Braves dominated.
