This information supplements the Matrox MXO2 Installation and User Guide, which is provided in PDF format in the Matrox MXO2 Support section of our website at www.matrox.com/video/support. Visit our website for the latest downloads To ensure that you have the latest software updates and documentation available for your Matrox MXO2 product, check the Matrox MXO2 Support section of our website at www.matrox.com/video/support. Our website also offers up-to-the-minute information about Matrox products, access to our user forums, and special promotional offers. What’s new in this release Version 2.6.1 provides the following: • Fixes a capture issue with Matrox Vetura Capture and Apple Final Cut Pro 7 on late-model Mac systems when scaling the source video. Known issues Please be aware of the following issues with version 2.6.1. Third-party applications • If your MXO2 is connected to your Mac system using the Matrox MXO2 Thunderbolt adapter, we recommend that you do not disconnect the Apple Thunderbolt cable when a video application that is running an MXO2 project is open. If you do so, you may receive an error message in the application, and you may have to close and re-open the application in order for it to detect your MXO2 hardware when you reconnect the Apple Thunderbolt cable. (Ref# VPG-490 and VPG-491) • If your computer enters sleep mode when playing back video in Final Cut Pro using MXO2, once your computer comes out of sleep mode, Final Cut Pro may become unresponsive and the MXO2 SDI/HDMI output may disappear or freeze. If this occurs, you must Force Quit (CMD + OPT + ESC) and then restart Final Cut Pro. We recommend that you disable your computer’s sleep mode option to prevent this issue. (Ref# VPG-653) • When returning to Adobe After Effects after switching to another application, you may experience a slight delay on the MXO2 outputs during playback. (Ref# VPG-395) About these release notes 2 • To avoid playback issues in Avid Media Composer when in 1394 mode, make sure that MXO2 is not selected as the audio input or output device in your Mac OS sound settings (System Preferences > Sound). (Ref# 57756) • In order to have access to the Matrox presets/player in Adobe Premiere Pro/Encore, make sure that MXO2 is not selected as the audio input or output device in your Mac OS sound settings (System Preferences > Sound) before opening Adobe Premiere Pro/Encore. Once the application is open, keep MXO2 audio disabled in the Mac OS sound settings to ensure proper functionality with MXO2. (Ref# 56018, 57588) • If your audio input is not detected in Soundtrack Pro when using MXO2 as the input device for recording, ensure the following settings: $ Matrox MXO2 is set as the input (Matrox MXO2 Audio Input) and output (Matrox MXO2 Audio Output) audio device in your Mac OS sound settings (System Preferences > Sound). $ Matrox MXO2 Audio Input is selected as the recording input source in Soundtrack Pro (Soundtrack Pro > Preferences > Recording). $ The MXO2 input to which your audio source is connected is selected as the audio input source on the A/V Input pane of the MXO2 preferences window. If you are not using MXO2’s SDI or HDMI input for audio, make sure that SDI or HDMI are not selected as the video input source. If the audio input is still not detected in Soundtrack Pro after ensuring the above settings, the following steps may resolve the issue: a Start Final Cut Pro, and load an MXO2 Easy Setup. b Open the Log and Capture window (CTRL+8). Make sure that your audio input is detected. c Close Final Cut Pro. (Ref# 52815) • When MXO2 is set as the input audio device (Matrox MXO2 Audio Input) in the Mac OS Sound preferences window, if the Sound preferences window is open and is on the Input pane, you won’t be able to hear audio from the MXO2 outputs when playing back a clip in Final Cut Pro. To regain the audio output from MXO2, either switch the Sound preferences window to a pane other than the Output pane, or close the window, and then in Final Cut Pro choose View > External Video, and then click Refresh A/V Devices. (Ref# 55666) • You may get an error when switching between Soundtrack Pro and Final Cut Pro when they are both using the Matrox MXO2 for video output. To avoid this, stop the playback in Soundtrack Pro before switching to Final Cut Pro. (Ref# 47232) Known issues 3 • When playing back a clip using Premiere Pro with MXO2, you won’t be able to output audio from your system using the Built-in Line Output audio option in Premiere Pro > Preferences > Audio Hardware. (Ref# 55566) • When working in Adobe After Effects, selecting a Matrox MXO2 10-bit Output Mode for your video preview is not supported. As a workaround, choose a Matrox MXO2 8-bit Output Mode instead. (Ref# 47283) • Video distortion may appear on the output when playing back a DV NTSC (720×480) project in Apple Motion. To resolve this issue, in Apple Motion make sure that Field Rendering is enabled (View > Field Rendering), and set the project to NTSC Broadcast SD as follows: a Choose Edit > Project Properties. b On the General pane, from the Preset menu, select NTSC Broadcast SD. (Ref# 47728) • When performing an edit-to-tape using Final Cut Pro with MXO2, the video preview in the Edit to Tape window may appear to be too bright, however this does not affect the video that is recorded to tape. (Ref# 47443) • When sending a project from Apple Color to Final Cut Pro, you may lose MXO2’s video output in Final Cut Pro. To prevent this from occurring, disable the video output in Color before sending the project to Final Cut Pro. To disable the video output in Color: a Choose Color > Preferences. b On the User Prefs pane, from the Video Output menu, select Disabled. (Ref# 47992) • To output a DV PAL project using Final Cut Pro with MXO2, use a Matrox MXO2 - PAL video playback setting, instead of a Matrox MXO2 - DV PAL video playback setting. For example, to output a DV PAL (720×576) 8-bit project, use the Matrox MXO2 - PAL YUV 8-bit (720×576) video playback setting.

You will be presented with the following screen upon launching the application: 2. If you wish to uninstall all components of Final Cut Studio and you have no other Apple Pro Apps such as Logic or Shake on your system, skip to Step 4. 3. If you only wish to remove certain components, use the check boxes to select and deselect them or use the Preset dropdown menu at the top of the window. Last updated 09/15/14 FCS Remover User Manual 3 The following presets are available: All – Selects all components. All Final Cut Studio / Express – This selects all Final Cut Studio / Express components and not Final Cut Server. All Final Cut Server – This selects all Final Cut Server components and not Final Cut Studio. Compressor and Qmaster Only – This selects only Compressor and Qmaster, as these are the most commonly reinstalled applications. Maximum Compatibility – This removes Final Cut Studio but does not remove Final Cut Studio components that are shared by other Apple ProApps such as Logic and Shake. This allows you to remove Final Cut Studio without harming your other ProApp installations. Receipts only – This only removes receipts. Receipts are used by the Final Cut Studio installer to keep track of what has been installed, so removing only receipts is a way of causing the installer to overwrite the original files on the disk without actually removing them.

4 Preparing Music/SFX from CD with iTunes 1.) Insert your CD and iTunes should open automatically. If it doesn’t open, click on the iTunes in the dock. Your CD should appear in the iTunes window. 2.) Checkmark the tracks that you want to import. To deselect all the checkmarks, hold down <Apple> and then click on a checkmark. 3.) If the tracks are generically titled “Track 1”, “Track 2”, etc., rename the tracks you want to use with useful information like the name of the song, band, etc. Note: It is very important to rename your imported music; otherwise, there will be several imported songs with the same name (i.e. “Track 1”, “1 Track 1”, “2 Track 1”), which is very confusing. 4.) Click the Import button. iTunes will import your music from the CD to the iTunes folder on the desktop. 5.) Find the imported file in the iTunes folder on the desktop and drag that file to your project folder on the external media drive. Using the Browser, Search, and Bin tabs in the Inspector window In STP, there are two Inspector windows. One Inspector window contains the following tabs: Browser, Search, Favorites, Bin, and Effects. The Bin Tab • The Bin tab contains a reference of all the audio files you use in your STP project. Note: The bin does not contain your actual audio files. Your audio files should be stored in your project folder in the Student Project Folder on the media drive. • When you add an audio file to your timeline, it automatically appears in the Bin tab.
