Arriva Yorkshire North Kirklees Network Changes February 2019 Summary of Changes | Page 1 of 5 119/120 Dewsbury - Ossett - Batley No change 126/127 Dewsbury - Ossett - Wakefield We’re making minor changes to the weekday afternoon timetable, some trips will run up to five minutes earlier and some trips will run up to five minutes later. 128/130 Dewsbury - Wakefield A small number of trips which are not well used will no longer run, and some trips will start further along the route. To make things simpler, the 130 is renumbered 128A. This service is run with financial support from WYCA (Metro). 200 Leeds - White Rose - Morley - Birstall - Gomersal - Cleckheaton We’re introducing new service 200 to replace part of the 220 and 222 routes. New service 200 will run every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes, and hourly on Sundays too following requests from customers for links between Cleckheaton and the White Rose centre on a Sunday. The route of the new service follows the current 220/222 route between Leeds and Gomersal Hill Top. Then we’ll use Oxford Road and follow a route around ‘West End’ estate. From the end of Woodlands Road we’ll then drop down Spen Lane into Cleckheaton. A fully revised timetable gives us more recovery time in Leeds, which will make the timetable more robust. We’ve also ensured that buses are more evenly spaced between Leeds and White Rose shopping centre - there will be an Arriva Bus every 7 or 8 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes. 201/201A Leeds - White Rose - Morley - Batley - Healey - Heckmondwike We’re introducing new service 201 (with evening and early morning variant 201A) to replace part of the 221 and 223 routes. New service 201 will run every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes, and hourly on Sundays too. The route of the new 201 service follows the current 221 route between Leeds and Batley. The route of the new 201A service follows the current 223 route between Leeds and Batley (via Howden Clough). Both services then use the current 229 route via Healey to Heckmondwike. 202/203 Leeds - White Rose - Dewsbury - Mirfield - Huddersfield We have revised the timetable to make the service more reliable. An extra bus has been added to the route at peak times. We’ll still run generally every 15 minutes, and the extra bus will help us recover any lost time due to growing congestion. We’ve also ensured that buses are more evenly spaced between Leeds and White Rose shopping centre - there will be an Arriva Bus every 7 or 8 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes. The new 228 service will run the same route as the 220 between Huddersfield and Cleckheaton, with off-peak journeys continuing to Brighouse. During weekday peak times, the service will operate roughly every 90 minutes and is timed to cover college demand into Huddersfield. During Monday to Saturday daytime, off-peak, the service will run hourly. Arriva Yorkshire | North Kirklees Network Changes – February 2019 Summary of Changes | Page 3 of 5 229 Leeds - Gildersome - Birstall - Heckmondwike - Roberttown - Huddersfield There will be some major changes made to the route and timetable of this service. Following several requests for a more direct service, the 229 will be rerouted between Birstall and Heckmondwike to serve Smithies Moor Lane, Leeds Old Road, Nunroyd and Jeremy Lane. As a result the new 229 will not serve Bradford Road, Batley or Healey. New service 201 (with early morning and evening variant 201A) offers a replacement service from Leeds to Batley and Healey. Customers along Bradford Road can use services 281/283, together running up to every 15 minutes, with connections possible to/from Leeds by changing buses in Birstall (onto 229) or Batley (onto 201/201A). The new 229 service will be increased to run up to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, between Leeds and Heckmondwike. It will continue to operate every 30 minutes to Huddersfield. This will mean a more frequent service for customers in Gildersome, Birstall and Heckmondwike. We’ll also add more evening journeys, and the late night journey on a Friday and Saturday night will be renumbered N9. 251 Birstall - Gomersal - Heckmondwike A new service will run to replace part of the current 222 route between Birstall and Heckmondwike. This service will be run with financial support from WYCA (Metro). 252 Leeds - New Farnley - Drighlington - Birkenshaw - Gomersal - Cleckheaton - Scholes - Liversedge - Heckmondwike - Dewsbury Moor - Dewsbury To make things simpler, the 252 is renumbered 254A. We’ll also serve Heckmondwike Hub in both directions, to help customers connect onto the enhanced 229 service and other services departing from there. 253 Bradford - Birkenshaw - Cleckheaton - Liversedge - Mirfield - Dewsbury This service will no longer run. There will be alternative options for most customers, although some journeys may require a change from one bus to another at a bus station or hub. We know that some of our customers prefer direct services where possible, however the 253 service does duplicate several other services on the bus network, and unfortunately the costs associated with running the service cannot be sustainably covered by revenue collected on board. From Bradford to Tong Street, services 283, 425 and 427 combine to provide a bus up to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime. From Birkenshaw through Cleckheaton to Liversedge, service 254 provides a bus every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime. Along Sunnybank Road in Mirfield, new service 261 will provide an hourly bus with connections to Heckmondwike Hub. Between Mirfield and Dewsbury, service 203 provides a bus every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime. A new school day service MG1 will replace the busy 0808hrs journey from Dewsbury to Mirfield Grammar School, using the existing 253 route. We have written to the headteacher at Mirfield Grammar to let them know about the change. 254 Leeds - New Farnley - Drighlington - Birkenshaw - Gomersal - Cleckheaton - Liversedge - Heckmondwike - Dewsbury Moor - Dewsbury A new timetable is introduced with more even spacing between journeys, especially at peak times. More time has been added to Sunday journeys, to ensure we run as reliably as we can. We’ll also serve Heckmondwike Hub in both directions, to help customers connect onto the enhanced 229 service and other services departing from there. New service 200 will cover ‘West End’ estate. 256 Bradford - Hunsworth - Cleckheaton - Scholes - Brighouse This service is provided with financial support from WYCA (Metro). We are one of a number of operators that runs the service on their behalf, and following contract changes we’ll be running different journeys on this route to what we have been running.
