Georgia Tech and Notre Dame first met in 1996 as part of the Comfort Inn Downtown Classic in Atlanta. The Jackets opened strong, but a 22-4 run spanning the first and second quarters from the Orange reversed momentum in favor of Syracuse. Both Francesa Pan and Zaire O’Neil finished with 20-plus points on the night, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Tech’s defi- cit. Pan set a career-high scoring 26 points, while O’Neil pitched in a season-high 24 points. The Jackets shot 50.0 percent (27-54) from the field, but 59.3 percent (16-27) from the free throw line. Syracuse finished 28-of-32 from the charity stripe (87.5 percent) and was led offensively by Tiana Mangakahia with 44 points.
