Dear Friends,

About 6 years ago a critical situation turned the Congress into a healing event. One of our Qigong masters could not come to receive the Qigong Award of the Year because his wife was in the hospital riddled with internal and external cancerous tumors and was predicted to die in a few days..In presenting his award remotely, I asked all the masters and audience to meditate together for about 10 minutes for her healing. Three days later, the Master reported that after our mass , all the tumors gradually reduced the following day and suddenly disappeared by the third day and was discharged! She lived for a number of years following.

The urgency of this critical situation is impassioning me to transform the Congress beginning September 2, Friday Grand Opening evening into an individual and collective healing session continuing through the week with all these powerful masters!

Everyone is welcome FREE to healing Friday and all other seminars (no food). You can bring photographs and articles of your loved ones to be blessed. You are invited to bring flowers and/or donations of gratitude. This event will be live streamed by Master Lama Tantrapa so that people all over the world can tune in and send healing Qi to Meg or participate for your own or others’ healing.

Thank you for dropping your worries and stress for 3 days and be joyful with us which may be a life-changing experience for you as it has been for thousands of others! Learn how to self-heal your outstanding problems with Qi or to become super healthy! You can turn around and help heal others, and expand your career or create a new one in the healing field which is now noted as the largest and most sustaining industry! One of our major thrust is working with the Veterans with success for PTSD, physical or emotional pain, preventing suicides and other problems. The other two thrusts are with cancer, its ever increasing threats, and Hepatitis B a serious problem in the Asian communities.

We welcome you to our Congress for some serious learning with lots of fun! Our prescription is to have at least 8 hugs and 3 belly-aching laughs a day! However, even if you get 100 in one day, you have to start with number 1 the next day! You can start right now!

Much Blessings….In Loving Qi with hugs and laughter, (please enjoy at least 8 hugs and 3 belly-aching laughs a day)

Dame Dr. Effie Chow Congress Chair

GREETINGS FROM THE MAYOR

On behalf of the City and County of San Francisco, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 17th World Congress on Qigong/TCM, being held in San Francisco on September 2nd -5th 2016.

PROGRAM GOAL As we step into this new era, the need for Healing on every level - Self, Community and Planetary - is evident, yet the established institutional approaches are failing. Evident is the increased medical failures; cancer and heart conditions on the rise; climate change; air, water and food pollution; economic downturn; and social stressors in our everyday lives. THE ANSWERS LIE IN US! We, as practitioners of Qigong, Tai Chi and TCM, are in a prime position to lead the way to a new paradigm of healing that encompasses body, mind, spirit and planetary healing by the channeling of life giving Qi with love, touch and compassion combined with new scientific research.

Moreover, such a unique congregation of experts on Qigong/TaiChi/TCM is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the visionaries and experience an interactive and enlightening display of cultural performances and Qigong/ TaiChi/TCM that will marvel the public! Such performances include calligraphy, music, Qigong/martial arts feats of energetics! Masters will also be leading exercises throughout the day for the public’s participation. This is the time to have your mind “blown and broadened”, witnessing and joining in feats demonstrating superhuman power and re-markable healings!

The 17th World Congress on Qigong / Tai Chi / Traditional Chinese Medicine has bestowed its annual awards upon some of the most outstanding participants who have distinguished themselves through their talent and dedication to the recognition of Qigong as a mainstream medical practice in the Western World.

MEDICAL QIGONG AWARD OF THE YEAR GRANDMASTER DR. WANG YAN

Dr. Yan Wang is a world famous medical Qigong expert, herbalist, and martial artist. On the board of scientific qigong research institutes in China. Vice president of the World Federation of traditional Chinese Medicine. Currently living in Amsterdam, she’s appeared on TV in Europe, USA, Asian countries and China, many times about her special Qigong.

HUMANITARIAN AWARD OF THE YEAR DAISY GIN Born at the Chinese Hospital in SF. “I have chosen to practice nursing at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, the health care safety net for our city’s most vulnerable underserved populations. A nursing colleague uses the term “squeezing blood out of a turnip” to describe my knack for using intuition and the art of nursing to hold a safe and compassionate space for clients to express, most often, for the first time, their stories of horrific past atrocities and trauma. She volunteers a good amount of time in helping to build strong relationships. She is as an advocate, an ally to women who are silenced by societies that deemed them to be silent and invisible, to endure hardships, to feel somehow they are at fault for their shortcomings. Daisy uses these skills to support family, friends and new acquaintances, and are always tentative to their needs instinctively.

Khadro Crystal Chu Rinpoche is the spiritual leader of Black Sect Esoteric Buddhism Fifth Stage. OTTAWA CHOW QIQONG ASSOCIATION AWARD OF THE YEAR DAI SHIANG YING I was introduced to Qigong by my father who was an acupuncturist and Qigong practitioner. I went back to my roots when I had a physical and mental breakdown after losing my father in 1997 and my mother in 2000. I started Chow Qigong classes at McNabb Community Centre in the Fall of 2000. Having received a certificate in the Chow Qigong Intensive Level I training and to teach Chow Qigong I realized its’ value... Chow Qigong helped me to regain my health back without pharmaceutical drugs. I became Chow Qigong instructor because I am committed to Chow Qigong and want others to take advantage of the potential health benefits of Chow Qigong. This led me to officially develop and incorporate the Ottawa Chow Qigong Association OCQA over 10 years ago. It continues to grow every year!

MODEL CLIENT AWARD OF THE YEAR KATHY MARNELL

Kathy Marnell was director of nine counties of the Department of Labor. In 2009, she was diagnosed with Undifferentiated Endometrial cancer stage 4B and was considered end stage. She began chemotherapy on March 13, 2009. “Chemotherapy made me very nauseous, caused severe bone pain, peripheral neuropathy, facial Pemphigus reaction and allergic reactions. My sister, a psychologist at Stanford introduced me to Chow Qigong and Dr. Chow. With committed daily practice, my side effects were mostly relieved and I could tolerate chemotherapy better. Within 9 months’ time, the doctor declared my remission as ‘cured’. I helped others meditate as I could immediately raise or lower my blood pressure on will. I am enjoying tremendously teaching Chow Qigong successfully to a small class of 7th graders of youth with ADHD.” She is well and active today.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD OF THE YEAR VIOLA CHOW ONG Viola has a history of devotion to community service. In Taiwan, she established the Cardiac foundation and raise 1 million Taiwan dollars. In Phoenix Arizona, she was a major leader in non- profit fundraising programs. In Hawaii, she was involved with the narcissis queen activities and the chamber of commerce with relationship to Asia. CHOW QIQONG LOYALTY AWARD OF THE YEAR LYN McMAHON

Retiring from being administrator to the Board of Education in Toronto, I met Dr. Effie Chow in Nov. 1996. Besides our regular Wednesday classes at St. Andrews’ United Church, Toronto since 1997, Lilian Wong, an associate and dear friend, and I presented workshops for teachers, and Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation. With the great Grandmaster, Dr. Chow as the teacher, I am confident to teach the Chow Qigong and the philosophy, and know they are very beneficial to our health and lifestyle because of the many positive feedbacks I have received. That is so rewarding.

To Dream the Impossible Dream

To dream the impossible dream To fight the unbeatable foe To bear with unbearable sorrow To run where the brave dare not go To right the unrightable wrong To love pure and chaste from afar To try when your arms are too weary To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest To follow that star No matter how hopeless No matter how far

To fight for the right Without question or pause To be willing to march into Hell For a heavenly cause

And I know if I’ll only be true To this glorious quest That my heart will lie peaceful and calm When I’m laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this That one man, scorned and covered with scars Still strove with his last ounce of courage To reach the unreachable star

More recent research found that similar effects can also be associated with Yoga and Chinese therapies such as acupuncture, massage, and topical herbal remedies. In cell culture experiments, physiological levels of D.C. electric field can affect the rate and directionality of cellular movement, suggesting a mechanism for affecting health and healing. Our current studies are focused on the physiological effects of modernized energy therapies such as laser acupuncture, acupressure massage, electrical stimulation of acupoints, and far infrared therapy

• Generating Inner Strength (Neijin 內勁)” Saturday 9:00 am - 12:30 pm SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIUM The discussion of generating strength in both both the discipline of science and the yin-yang theory of Taijiquan, gives us some common ground to look at qi and neijin. Neijin is mysterious because the ethos of Taijiquan resides in the internal, not characterized by the vigor of physical activities that we can identify with. Nevertheless, neijin is manifested in the body. We can thus interpose the musculo-skeletal framework on the yin-yang theory to study the biomechanics of neijin. Shining the light of physiology and physics on neijin, we can look at the role of qi in generating strength, and study qi as a somatosensory tool to work on muscle activations at the joints. Biomechanics can complement the traditional approach, adding precision to training methods of Taijiquan. The investigation also points to other issues that arise, such as the responses of neurobiology, which confront all the arts of body motion, including Taijiquan

• Physical Light Measured During Energy Healing Sessions under Controlled Conditions in the Laboratory Saturday 9:00 am - 12:30 pm SCIENTIFIC SYMPOSIUM We will discuss our latest research on the extremely low level physical light emitted from the human body. These particles of light emitted from organisms have been called biophotons. Although this is a frontier area of science with no consensus, biophotons are considered by some scientists to be part of the biofield, the energy field within and around the body of an organism that may be intimately involved in health and well-being. From a scientific view, light is the most mysterious particle of all, having no mass or matter, being pure energy of highest order, and traveling at the speed limit of the universe. Measuring this light associated with the living state is possibly related to the elusive life energy, the qi.
