Executive Summary The City of Glasgow has a long tradition in the pursuit of a high quality built environment and public realm, continuing to the present day. This strategy represents the next steps in this tradition by setting out how open space should be planned, created, enhanced and managed in order to meet the priorities for Glasgow for the 21st century. This is not just an open space strategy. It is a cross‐cutting vision for delivering a high quality environment that supports economic vitality, improves the health of Glasgow’s residents, provides opportunities for low carbon movement, builds resilience to climate change, supports ecological networks and encourages community cohesion. This is because, when planned well, open space can provide multiple functions that deliver numerous social, economic and environmental benefits. Realising these benefits should be undertaken in a way that is tailored to the needs of the City. As such, this strategy examines the priorities Glasgow has set out and identifies six cross‐cutting strategic priority themes for how open space can contribute to meeting them.

  • Scottish Executive's Proposals for Maintenance
AGENDA ITEM NO. ........z........... NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL REPORT ~ ~ ~~ To: PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE Subject: (Roads and Transportation Sub Committee) A8 BAILLIESTON TO NEWHOUSE : SCOTTISH EXECUTIVE’S PROPOSALS FOR MAINTENANCE From: DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENT Date: 7 March 2001 I Ref: DiTTi7310WJM I Purpose of Report 1. This report informs Committee of consultation on the proposals of the Scottish Executive for major maintenance works on the A8 between Baillieston and Newhouse and seeks homologation of the comments attached in Appendix A which have been forwarded to the Scottish Executive’s consultants. Background 2. On 14 January the Department of Planning and Environment received a consultation on the environmental appraisal of the proposals for major maintenance works on the A8 at the above location. Scheme Proposals 3. The Scottish Executive has decided, given the importance of the route, that two live traffic lanes in each direction should be maintained at all times during the works. The rehabilitation works will therefore require the addition of hard shoulders as well as improvements to a number of slip roads along the route. 4. The addition of 3.3m wide nearside hardshoulders on each carriageway will also increase the future level of service on the road by reducing the disruption to traffic due to incidents and it will provide safe refuge areas for breakdowns and emergency vehicle access. 5. A new safety barrier will be erected along the length of the A8. In certain locations on the route a vertical concrete barrier (VCB) will be required to provide additional protection to bridge piers and safety to road users where the full central reserve width cannot be achieved.

Glasgow City Council Housing Development Committee Report by Director of Development and Regeneration Services Contact: Jennifer Sheddan Ext: 78449 Operation of the Homestake Scheme in Glasgow Purpose of Report: The purpose of this report is to seek approval for priority groups for housing developments through the new Homestake scheme, and for other aspects of operation of the scheme. Recommendations: Committee is requested to: - (a) approve the priority groups for housing developments through the new Homestake scheme; (b) approve that in general, the Council’s attitude to whether the RSL should take a ‘golden share’ in Homestake properties is flexible, with the exception of Homestake development in ‘hotspot’ areas where the Housing Association, in most circumstances, will retain a ‘golden share’; (c) approve that applications for Homestake properties should normally be open to all eligible households, with preference given to existing RSL tenants to free up other existing affordable housing options; (d) approve that net capital receipts to RSLs through the sale of Homestake properties will be returned to the Council as grant provider to be recycled in further affordable housing developments. • Our Local Plan at GHA for the Next Five Years
Glasgow Housing Association Investing In Our Futures www.gha.org.uk Our local plan at GHA for the next five years Mosspark, Craigton, Bellahouston, Cardonald, Corkerhill, Central Pollok, Househillwood, Old Pollok and North Pollok GHA’s new five-year strategy, ‘Investing In Our Futures’, has been shaped by listening to feedback from our tenants about what is important to them. This leaflet tells you what this means for you and your local area between now and 2020. It sets out what local people told us their priorities were and what we plan to do in your community over the next five years. This leaflet covers the communities of Mosspark, Craigton, Bellahouston, Cardonald, Corkerhill, Central Pollok, Househillwood, Old Pollok and North Pollok. What you told us In developing the local plan we engaged with tenants on their priorities during our customer conversations, talked to people at community events and met with local groups. Better homes, better lives We heard feedback on the need to continue to invest in our homes and communities, particularly for tenants who have not had external improvements due to sharing blocks with owners and those that had been invested in pre-GHA. There was a strong feeling additional environmental improvements were needed for a number of communities, including fencing and open spaces. Some customers told us about the need for more homes of the right sizes within their area as some families were outgrowing their homes and were leaving the community. Other priorities included improving the repairs and maintenance service, tackling condensation and helping to address fuel poverty by installing more cost-efficient heating systems in some property types.
