Earl “The Pearl” Monroe, Hall Men’s Club of Jewish Senior Services of Fame player, was a 1968 NBA Rookie of the Year, four-time NBA All-Star (1969, 1971, 1975, 1977), and 1973 NBA World Champion began his basketball legacy as a collegiate senior when he led Winston-Salem CELEBRITY State College to a National Championship in 1967 while averaging 41.7 points per game. That same year, Monroe was selected second overall in the BREAKFAST NBA Draft by the Baltimore Bullets. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2018 “The Pearl” enjoyed a 13-year career in the NBA and played with the Bullets from 1967-1971 until 7:30 AM he was traded to the New York Knickerbockers. Monroe joined JEWISH SENIOR SERVICES • BENNETT HALL fellow Hall of Famer Walt Frazier 4200 PARK AVENUE •BRIDGEPORT and the pair was named the “Rolls Royce Backcourt.” Together, Monroe and Frazier led the Knicks Featuring to victory in the 1973 NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1989, Monroe was elected to the the 1973 NBA Champion Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
