I stumbled upon the developer working on this on a live-stream and after watching him working on it on a few different occasions I just had to pick it up. I definitely wasn't disappointed, it's as fun to play as it looks! Also, I've had an xbox controller laying around gathering dust, so this game also afforded me the perfect chance to dust that off and erase the guilt of wastefully buying a gamepad I never use. So that's a plus. It's very much outside of the genres I normally play so I can't provide the same in- depth analysis I normally would in a review since I have little to compare it to (it's been decades since I played a brawler; last one was streets of rage on my mega drive, a long time ago). I am hardly a brawling game connoisseur though so I'm just going to leave it to others to delve into the fighting mechanics in depth. But, I will say that to me the fighting mechanics felt satisfying and enjoyable. The game includes many fun elements, such as destructable environments, leveling up of abilities, and what basically amounts to a bestiary (I can't remember what it's called in the game but it lets you see the enemies and their stats). I especially enjoyed the way the developer designed the end of level bosses: making clever use of props and/or minor characters and combining them into some power-rangers-esque combination mega-zord enemy. Starting off simple; with the jock riding a football quarter back, and increasing in elaborateness all the way up to the drama level's prop-monster that's featured prominently in the trailer. At the end of the day, all your enemies are fellow students who are bullying the main character, so I have to admire the developer's creativity at being able to spin what are basically just fellow students into so many interesting boss varieties! Overall it's a solid game that's fun to play, doesn't take itself seriously, and manages to do interesting things with the elements available to it via the world and the story.. I really wanted to like this game since Iu2019m a huge fan of old school 2/2.5D beat u2018em ups. Plus, itu2019s a small development team and Iu2019m always down for giving some love to underdog developers. But this is an honest review, so. This gameu2019s graphical presentation was what initially caught my eye and made me go ahead with my purchase. Sadly, thatu2019s the best thing about this title. Everything else about Bully Beatdown is pretty sub-par. The annoying shred guitar soundtrack really started to grate on me after a few levels in. The controls werenu2019t awful, but the special attacks (of which there are only a few) are awkward to execute. The characteru2019s extremely limited moveset got old fast - which, in turn, made the gameplay in general get boring and monotonous pretty quickly. I powered through to the end of the game, but sadly this game wonu2019t be getting a replay from this reviewer; deleted.. I was looking for something to spend my Friday night and ended up with this game which looked like something fun. Also, it was cheap. Unfortunately, keyboard ain't that good to play it, you better plug your controller in, it would make everything much easier because that's beat 'em up kind of game with a lot of fights. The story is simple and based on cliche. High school, senior year and prom is round the corner. You are a fat kid who fell in love with a popular skinny girl but bullies are gonna give you a hard time. Fight 'em up in the name of love, fatso! Despite the fact that alt-tab doesn't work flawless and the game is pretty simple, it is definitely worth to spend few hours as a fat kid. I don't regret it.. Fat Kid is a Beat-Em-Up side scrolling game where you take control of the fat kid at school who everybody is bullying. The game features 9 levels all of which progressively get weirder the further you advance. Beating your way through hordes of enemies and smashing your way through everything in your path on each level before you fight the boss at the end, who's the main bully of the level. If you find yourself struggling through the game, you can always destroy the scenery which will drop energy and health to help prevent you from dying and allow you to use special moves more often. You level up your skills just by using them which I think is a nice touch. This mechanic makes a nice change as it saves you from making tough decisions whether to upgrade punches or kicks for example. There are 4 special abilities which have some humour to them. You can roll along the floor and into enemies, you can fart on enemies causing them to be stunned, you can belly bounce them and even stomp the ground. The fighting mechanics are okay to play with. I didn't find them mind blowing, but I wasn't disappointed either. They're a little clunky, but still easy enough to use.

Using the specials is the hardest part to master but by the end of the first level you should be good! One point about this game that I really liked was the art style. The cartoon-like style really suites the game and its humour. It also gives the game a real arcade feel to it and with it being a sidescrolling Beat-Em-Up this is a really nice touch and it comes with some nice comic book style cutscenes which make a nice change. The games sound is pleasant and the heavy metal/rock music gives a real good feel when you're wreaking havoc and beating the hell out of people! I don't necessarily see this game having much replay value unless you like to complete games on multiple difficulties. Each level only takes around 10 minutes to complete so the game doesn't seem to have much longevity to it. Thankfully the game play makes up for this. I would recommend this game to anyone who is into the beat-em-up genre. The price tag isn't too expensive and won't break the bank.. I finished the game on easy in one sitting I love how you can KO two girls at the same time with one kick, i love that I really enjoyed the game and i recommend it P.S.
