Icon proximal successfully arrests the progression of incipient caries – without drilling or unnecessary loss of substance. The damaged area is first prepared using an etching gel. Air and water entrapments caused by the caries process have a lower light refraction index than healthy tissue. That leads to unesthetic discolorations called white spots.
