No.: 49691 Training Cell Orientation Programme for newly elected/nominated Members of Rajya Sabha on the 19 May and 20 May, 2012 at Parliament House Annexe

An Orientation Programme for the Members of Rajya Sabha who have been elected/nominated to Parliament for the first time, is being organised by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat on Saturday 19 May and Sunday 20 May, 2012 in the Main Committee Room, Parliament House Annexe, New . The Programme will be inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chairman, Rajya Sabha.

2. The Orientation Programme has been devised to provide an opportunity to the Members to discuss and analyze various aspects of Parliamentary Practice and Procedures with special reference to Rajya Sabha and to familiarize them with Parliamentary institutions, procedures and practices. The Orientation Programme aims at assisting new Members to be effective in Parliamentary work and will consist of several discussions/sessions on specific topics, initiated by senior and eminent Members of Parliament.

3. Formal letters along with detailed programme have already been issued to the new Members concerned separately. They are requested to kindly make it convenient to attend the programme. Launch of the Debate Portal of Rajya Sabha by Hon’ble Chairman, Rajya Sabha

Members are informed that Hon’ble Chairman, Rajya Sabha will launch the Debate Portal of Rajya Sabha (http://rsdebate.nic.in), which is an online repository of all the Debates of the Rajya Sabha since the first Session held in May 1952, during the inaugural function of the ‘Orientation Programme’ for newly elected/nominated Members at 11.00 a.m. on 19th May, 2012 in the Main Committee Room, Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi. No.: 49697 Committee Co-ordination Section Meeting of the Parliamentary Forum on Population and Public Health As intimated by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the Speaker, Lok Sabha in consultation with the Chairman, Rajya Sabha and President of the Parliamentary Forum on Population and Public Health has constituted the Parliamentary Forum on Population and Public Health with the broad aim and objective to identify and discuss the problems relating to population and public health and to equip the Members of Parliament with the information and knowledge related to the subject, making them aware of the seriousness of the issues involved and enabling them to adopt a result- oriented approach towards this critical issue. Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav, MP is the Member-Convener of the Forum. 2. A meeting of the Parliamentary Forum on Population and Public Health will be held on Monday, 21 May, 2012 at 1530 hrs. in Committee Room No.074, Ground Floor, Parliament Library Building, New Delhi in which Dr. S.K. Sikdar, Deputy Commissioner, Family Planning Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will make a presentation on the subject ‘Population Policy : Current Status and Need for New Population Policy’. 3. Avoiding Disturbance in the sound system It has been observed that some Hon. Members do not turn off the volume knob of their earphones while leaving their seats, which causes disturbance in the sound system in the House. Hon. Members are, therefore, requested to turn the knob to the left while leaving their seats.
