Dear Basketball Fans:

I take great pleasure in introducing you to our 2010-11 Solano College women’s basketball pro- gram. We are extremely proud of our Solano College women’s basketball team accomplishments, our coaching staff and our players. The recent history of Solano College women’s basketball includes a long list of athletic and aca- demic accomplishments. The program has won nine Bay Valley Conference championships – including the last three. In addition to our team success, our student-athletes have transferred at an extremely high percentage and our four-year scholarship rate for our players is phenomenal. There are also 15 former Solano College women’s basketball players and a former coach in the SCC Hall of Fame. The Solano College women’s basketball program most recently was honored for its academic ac- complishments. The 2008-09 team was ranked in the top 25 academically by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) in the JC/CC division. This award, given in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior College/Community College, awards teams throughout the nation that carry the highest grade point averages (GPA) for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches. The program is far more than wins and losses. It’s teaching students how to cope with the many problems that surface for them in today’s society. It’s teaching students to communicate with each other and with people from all socio-economic backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures and ages. It’s teaching students that in the priorities of college life, that academics is the first priority, along with developing character, leadership, citizenship, discipline and other life skills which will serve each student the rest of their lives. It’s about promoting inner self-confidence and individual development in all areas. These are the aspects of the program that are our top priorities since playing basketball can only be done for a rela- tive short number of years. I hope you enjoy the game and the 2010-11 Solano College women’s basketball season. GO FALCONS!!!

The Solano Community College women’s basketball program’s Adopt-A-Player fund-raising program allows community members, families and businesses to sponsor a student-athlete for the 2010-11 season. Funds help fulfill each student-athlete’s fund-raising obligations. This is a good way to get the community involved with the program by supporting the team and coming to games. There are four levels of sponsorship, some of which include a Solano women’s basketball team T-shirt and free admission to home games. It’s not too late to sponsor a player for this season! Ask one of the student-athletes how you can make a contribution or go to www.solano.edu, click on Athletics and Women’s Basketball to download the form.

A big thanks to those who have already adopted a player for this season. We are grateful for your support of our players!
