A filly by War Front topped the two-day sale when selling for $1.25 million to trainer D. Wayne Lukas, bidding FASIG-TIPTON SARATOGA SELECTED on behalf of Willis TUESDAY’S TOP 10 YEARLINGS Horton. Purchased by Debby M. Oxley Overall, a very healthy marketplace for the two nights.@ Cont. p3 In all, 114 yearlings grossed $33,284,000, compared to 2013 when 108 horses sold for $31,870,000. The average dipped 1.1% to $291,965 and the median fell 5% to $237,500. AThe average and the median are virtually identical to last year and the gross is up a little bit because we sold a few more horses,@ Browning commented. AI think we see a similar, consistent, overall marketplace that exists and it=s an awfully special place to sell quality horses.@ After Monday=s sparkling 9.9% buy-back rate, Tuesday=s session got off to a sluggish start, with half of the first 12 horses through the ring failing to find new homes. But bidding picked up throughout the session and Tuesday=s final buy-back rate was 28.6%. The two-day buy-back rate was 19.1%. It was 21.2% a year ago. AThe RNA rate crept up a little bit tonight, which had to be expected coming out of last night--it was unrealistic to expect that two nights in a row,@ Browning said. AThe combined sale being under 20% makes a significant accomplishment. Hopefully it will result with an even better catalogue in 2015. It certainly gives us something to grow on.@ Cont. p3 $610,000 $360,000 $425,000 Purchased by: D.
