All members are welcome. The following sections list the NSW representatives in the various Australian teams for the World Rowing events that have taken place so far this year, and the results that the crews achieved. The second Round is at Lake Karapiro in New Zealand from August 22nd to 24th. Women’s Single Scull Adelaide Scott UTS Rowing Club Women’s Coxless Pair Lauren Graham Sydney Rowing Club Isabelle Furrer Sydney Rowing Club Coxswains Talia Barnet-Hepples Sydney University Boat Club Andrew Le Sydney University Boat Club NSW Rowers in the Australian Team for the Junior World Championships Australia =5th on medal table with 1 Gold in the Junior Men’s Double Scull Women’s Double Scull 1st in the D Final Sophie Houston Sydney University Boat Club Men’s Coxless Four 3rd in the B Final Torben Ungemach Mosman Rowing Club Nikolas Pender Mosman Rowing Club Men’s Coxed Four 5th in the A Final Nicholas Rath Mosman Rowing Club Lexi McClean Mosman Rowing Club Harry Keenan (Cox) Sydney Rowing Club NSW Rowers also competed at the Henley Royal and Women’s Regattas. In the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup for School Eights, The Scots College had a win and a loss in their first round heats which was not good enough to advance to the next round. In the Britannia Challenge Cup, Sydney Rowing Club won both their heats, but were beaten in the Semi- Final. In the Diamond Jubilee Challenge Cup for U16 Women’s Quads, a Kinross Wollaroi crew competed in the heat, but were beaten and did not advance to the next round. In the Wyfold Challenge Cup for Men’s Coxless Fours, the Sydney Rowing Club Four: Oscar Carr- Middleton, Oscar Olsen, Alex Nichol and Alex Potter were undefeated through three heats, the semi-final and the final and so are 2019 champions. As the commentator said, an outstanding achievement for such a young crew. In the Henley Women’s Regatta, the Sydney Rowing Club crew of Lily Gavan, Jasmine Bowers, Lily Eales and Sarah Abrams, were 5th (out of 18 crews) in the time trial and qualified for the match racing rounds where they were beaten by the crew which was 3rd in the time trials and eventually beaten in the final. Balmain Para Rower Ruby Sutherland, in the PR3 Para Rowing single scull put up a good show against a very experienced and strong opponent, but was beaten in the first round. The Sydney University crew of Michaela Franz and Lizzie Treloar won their first round race, but were beaten in the semi-final. Please check out the flyer and order form below: Membership A reminder that membership renewals are due. Over the course of the last 12 months we have found that at least a quarter of all the email addresses we have on file are faulty in one way or another, such as being inactive due to members having new email addresses. It is quite difficult and costly to contact members by snail mail. At the end of this Newsletter there is the Membership flyer with which you can renew your membership and/or update your details. Thus, if you are reading this newsletter on the Web Site and you think the details we hold for you are out of date, could you please contact the Union and update your contact details. A good indication that your details are out of date would be if you are not receiving issues of Come Forward by email.
