Installing plug-ins for Word and the EndNote Toolbar for browsers (IE, Firefox). The toolbar allows you to (1) access the EndNote Web account direct access; (2) Capture references from a web site; and (3) Help: access the Help menu. The plug-ins for Word allows you to insert references from your library into a Word document.

Importing references from databases and journals

Importing directly from databases to EndNote Web: References are imported in a folder called Unfiled\

Direct Import from Web of Science:

 Select the citations of interest in the search results screen and click the ADD TO MARKED LIST icon.  Click the MARKED LIST link.  Select any additional fields to include (be sure ISSN/ISBN is checked).  Click the Save to: EndNote Web button.

Downloading from databases and Importing in EndNote Web: (e.g., SciFinder, Scopus). Select Favorites; From the Help menu find Importing formats.

1. In Pubmed, execute your searches to obtain search results. 2. For multiple searches, select "Clipboard" from the "Send to" drop down in the PubMed navigation bar and click the "Add to Clipboard" button to save records as you work. 3. On the search results page, use "Send to:" and select the "File" destination, 'Medline" format and any sort option. 4. When the Save dialog box comes up for you to save the file to your computer, click on the "Save" button and save the file somewhere easily accessible such as your desktop. Note: If you use File>Save from your browser, instead of the Send To pull down, the file will not import. Select favorites: PubMed (NLM) filter

Set your preferences in Google Scholar: 1. Go to http://scholar.google.com. 2. Next to the Search button, click Scholar Preferences.

3. Scroll down to the “Bibliography Manager" section. 4. Select "Show links to import citations into" and then "EndNote.” 5. Click Save Preferences. You can now return to the Google Scholar search page, where you can perform a search. Each search result will include the button Import into EndNote under the title of the citation.
