Beadnell WI Report Beadnell WI’s October meeting gave news of an enjoyable meal out recent- ly held at The Joiner’s Arms, followed by arrangements for future sociable occasions. In November our lunch club will meet at The Cottage Inn, Dun- stan, and on November 23rd Jan Brunt will lead us, and friends, through a craft afternoon where we can produce something attractive to use in the Christmas festivities. At our November meeting we will be asked to volun- teer, if we can, to help with coffee mornings, cook something towards our Christmas party meal, or help on Monday 2nd December to decorate the hall. Also, soup makers to help provide something warm for visitors on the evening of the switching on of Beadnell’s Christmas lights would be most welcome. The suggestion that we move the January lunch club to the mid- dle of the month was approved. Two visitors joined us in a very enjoyable practical evening, organized by Ruth Bull, who had previously helped us to produce beautiful cards incor- porating painting on silk. This time she introduced us to the art of needle felting flower brooches. Her preparations were meticulous. We were amazed by the variety of coloured wools and trimmings available for us to choose from, together with the necessary equipment to see us through the session. The technique used had a very satisfying therapeutic feel to it and everyone was able to produce something attractive to take home. The winning brooch was made by Annette Manning, with Denise Salisbury sec- ond and new member Susan Senior third. Brenda Tinker won the raffle. The next meeting has been swapped with that of February, so members need to be prepared to have fun with a session entitled Eyes Down for a Full House on November 14th.
