Glenn Edward ALEXANDER-DOD: 2007 June 9th from complications of Lung and Throat Cancer. Glenn was Dennis Chick's (70) Best Man at his wedding. Glenn, 70 Dennis and Brian Swart are the central students in the terrific picture in the front of the first yearbook from Parkdale, Class of 1970. Glenn is the black haired person, Brian is the redhead, the other one is Dennis, right in the middle of the picture. Linda Sue AMUNDSON-DOD: 2017 Linda Sue Stone, 64, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died suddenly of a heart attack on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born November 28, 1952 in Washington, D.C. she was the daughter of Amy Boyds of Nevada and the late Rolad Amundson. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, David R. Stone, Sr. (Parkdale Class of 70), to whom she was married on December 3, 1970. Linda was a dairy farmer and enjoyed working on the family dairy farm outside Emmitsburg along with her husband. She was an avid bowler and participated in several weekly leagues at Thunderhead bowl in Taneytown. She was a Baltimore Orioles fan. Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are sons, David R. Stone, Jr. and wife Shari of Carroll Valley, PA, and Robert N. Stone and 70 wife Tracy of Inwood, W.Va.; grandchildren, David Stone, III, Alex, Andrew, Kyle, Kaylee, Brittany and Abigale Stone, Amanda Mitchum; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Sophia and Anthony; brother, Jon Amundson; step-sisters, Paula Roberts and Chrissy Sharpe; step-brother, David Wayne Amundson; sister-in-law, Shirley Amundson; and special devoted friends, Mary Rose Keffer, Judy Fuller and Brenda Powell. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the MYERS- DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown with funeral celebrant John Morrill officiating. Burial will follow in the Keysville Union Cemetery in Keymar. The family will receive friends 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Published Online in The Frederick News-Post from July 10 to July 11, 2017 Louis Allen ASHCRAFT-DOD: 2014 October 23rd. Louis Allen Ashcraft, 62, of Milford, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014. Louis ‘Tex’ was born in Quanah, 70 Texas, Feb. 23, 1952. Louis was a retired engineer with Verizon (Bell Atlantic) Telephone Company of Washington, D.C. After his graduation from Parkdale High School in Riverdale, Md. he was accepted at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., but attended only a short time as he had received a back injury from falling down two flights of metal stairs while on a Coast Guard vessel. He then went to work for the Library of Congress before he started his 30-year career at Verizon. Louis was very active in the Sussex County community with the local Habitat for Humanity chapter by providing his service with his John Deere tractor. He also helped at the Soup Kitchen of the Presbyterian Church in Lewes. His main job there was to pick up leftover bread from the local bakery, as well as help serve the food and afterwards help with the clean-up. He was an active member of the Milford Senior Center where he enjoyed playing a good game of pinnacle. Louis was the son of the late James Eldon Ashcraft and Lidia Anna Pattai. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his younger brother: Richard Ashcraft. Louis is survived by his daughter: Jennifer Ashcraft and his two grandchildren: Jaelyn Ashcraft and Jeffrey Love III of Woodbridge, Va. He also leaves behind his siblings: Laura West of Saint Marys, Ga., Maria Mayhew of Lusby, Md. and Joseph Ashcraft of Potomac, Md. He had a large family of seven nieces: Bryanne, Joy, Amanda, Kelley, Leah and twins Jessica and Christina; four nephews: Rob, Tony, Michael and Joseph. He also is survived by his seven great-nieces; Chelsea, Hayley, Cameron, Kayla, Camille, Alexandra and Adriana; five great-nephews; Tommy, twins Grant and Trent, Joseph and Mathew. He is survived by lots of cousins, second and third cousins in Connecticut, Illinois, Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Texas and in Trieste, Italy, where his mother, Lidia, was born in 1931. He is survived by his aunts: Joy, Dixie, Vicki and Kathy from Nevada, Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas; his uncle: Johnny Ashcraft of Quanah, Texas; his stepfather: Albino Coslevas of Trieste, Italy. He leaves behind his fiancé and love of his life: Annamarie Fosmire of Georgetown; and his dedicated close friends and neighbors: Bill and Linda Malayter of Milford. Help us celebrate Louis Ashcraft’s life by attending a memorial service at the Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, Sunday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, make donations to the American Heart Association, 1019 Mattlind Way, Milford, DE in memory of Louis. James Edward BOUCHER-DOD: 2002 Died May 2nd of a brain seizure. He is survived by his sister Gerry Boucher (71), five other sisters and a brother. In addition 70 to his seven siblings, Jim is survived by his mother and thirteen nieces and nephews. Jim was employed by the Department of Commerce for nineteen years and was a volunteer firefighter for and lifetime member of West Lanham Hills Fire Department. 70 Nancy Lee BROOKE-DOD: 1990 Died of Breast Cancer. Michael Edward BURNS-DOD: 2015 March 19th. It is with deep regret that I announce the suddendeath of my brother, Michael Edward Burns, of Frederick, MD. Michael died of a heart attack at the age of 63. He was a proud veteran of the US 70 Army, where he served as a 91 Charlie (LVN) stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. A 1970 graduate of Parkdale Senior High School, he later earned a degree in chemistry from the Univ of Maryland. He worked for many years as an Environmental Safety specialist at the National Assoc of Railroads and Ft Dietrick, MD. There will be a graveside ceremony at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, at 1030, Wed, 8 April 2015. May he rest in peace with the thanks of a grateful nation for his service. 70 Stephen F CANDLEANA-DOD: 1985 March Stephen Benjamin CARZON-DOD: 2016 June 16th, of cancer with his daughter and son by his side. Son of Harry F. Carzon and Jean B. Carzon, of Riverdale, Maryland (both deceased), Crofton, Maryland; and Little River, South Carolina. Stephen was a Cable Technician for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, a former steward for CWA Local 2108, and a long-time resident of Riverdale, MD; Bowie, MD; Waldorf, MD; Calabash, NC; and Lusby, MD during his life. He leaves daughter Nichole Carzon and son Eric Carzon; grandchildren Angelica, Adrianna, Jonah, and Harold; first wife Janine Secrist; his beloved Great Dane Misha; and many beloved family and friends. He gave us the gift of music, good humor and a quick wit, helpfulness, hard work, handiness, and kindness. He had a keen memory for a good 70 song, he was handy with many a tool, mechanically inventive, and artistic in his own fashion, particularly with antiques. He hand-crafted several wonderful pieces of telephone memorabilia. He left this world happier, more musical, and in better mechanical condition than he found it. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Lee Funeral Home in Calvert, Maryland (8200 Jennifer Lane; Owings, Maryland, 20736). The Gathering will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with a ceremony in the same location at 3 p.m. Flowers are accepted gratefully, as are donations in Steve's honor. He died when a cerebral aneurysm ruptured. Born January 3, 1952, in Cheverly, MD, John was the son of Virgil and Marjorie Cashwell. He graduated from Parkdale High School, MD, in 1970 but had been a resident of Industry for 23 years where he worked as a service 70 agent for National Alamo Rental Car at Pittsburgh Airport. John's passions included golf, camping, the Washington Redskins, and spending time with friends and family. Surviving are a son, Gregory Cashwell, Industry; his former wife, Karen Cashwell, Industry; two sisters, Janie (Michael) Marrie, MD, and Kathleen (Terry) Ruby, MD; three nieces Lisa Russo, Sara Marrie, and Teresa Ruby; two nephews, Kevin Marrie and Alex Ruby, and many friends. Albert Marshall CLAGGETT IV-DOD: 1978 June 1st in the line of duty as a Prince Georges County Police Officer.

Fisher Mary G. Fisher, or “Fish” as her colleagues call her, was born and raised on the Eastern Shore. She graduated from Henry Highland Garnett High School and the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. Mary has been teaching at Kent County for 35 years and has been the athletic director for the past 13 years. She oversees 32 athletic teams and was instrumental in adding JV girls soccer, swimming, JV girls lacrosse and golf to Kent County’s interscholastic athletic program. During her years as the athletic director, Mary has updated the coach’s handbook, developed a parent/student athletic handbook and instituted cautionary statements for each sport. At the beginning of each sports season, Mary organizes and conducts a parent/athlete orientation meeting. In addition to her athletic director duties, Mary has been the head coach for softball, volleyball and basketball. During her coaching years, she was selected as coach of the year for volleyball and twice for softball.
