The three-month project features 21 custom wood lockers and new flooring. More from MSJ: "This project absolutely could not have been completed without Mr. Chapman's generosity,'' coach Ryan Lengerich said. "He has ties to this program and believes in its mission and commitment to winning on the court, in the classroom and in the community. We are forever grateful and proud to have him as a friend to the program." The Mount building and grounds staff gutted the locker room in October, including removing small metal lockers and a privacy wall, which significantly increased the usable space in the locker room. New ceiling, trim and wall paint was followed by new flooring and custom lockers from JR Customs Unlimited in Hamilton. The locker room is a special place where the athletes celebrate the wins and pick each other up in defeat," Lengerich said. "These student-athletes deserve this locker room. They never asked for it, they only worked hard each day and were thankful for what they had. They are a humble group, and there is no doubt they will treat this locker room with respect and enjoy it." The men's volleyball locker room is provided by the university for use solely by the team.

He didn't have the best command of his pitches, but he battled to limit the Braves to a pair of runs in the Reds 8-1 loss on Sunday at SunTrust Park. Castillo was clean during his first trip through the Braves' lineup. However, he quickly accelerated his pitch count as the Braves fouled off some quality pitches. He also ran into some trouble in the third inning as he allowed two runs on a double by Braves outfielder Nick Markakis that split the gap in right field. "I didn't have my best stuff today, but I went out there and competed," Castillo said through an interpreter. "I made my mistakes and I paid for it." Although he took the loss in his shortest start of the season, Castillo made sure to keep the Reds in the game. He limited the Braves to four hits and racked up eight strikeouts, five of which came in the first eight batters of the game. "I went out there and did the best I could to go deeper in the game," Castillo said. "After that mistake, I think I pitched really well." According to Statcast™, Castillo balanced his two-seam fastball, which topped out at 97 mph, with a strong changeup inside to right-handed hitters.

The 31-year-old left-hander has won each of his last four starts, permitting just one earned run over 27.2 innings pitched (0.33 ERA). According to Elias, the only other pitchers in Expos/Nationals history to post an ERA below 0.50 over four straight starts within one season (all wins), are Charlie Lea (0.28 in 1981), Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez (0.30 in 1997) and Javier Vazquez (0.28 in 2001). With his next start, Gio will attempt to become the fourth pitcher in Montreal/Washington franchise history to pick up a victory while tossing at least 6.0 innings and allowing one earned run or less in fi ve consecutive starts, and just the second to do so in a single season. Jordan Zimmermann accomplished the feat in six consecutive starts in 2012, while Martinez did so in six straight starts across the 1996-97 seasons. Gonzalez’ teammate Joe Ross compiled a streak of fi ve such starts between 2015-16. Harris, 31, has reeled off a string of nine consecutive scoreless outings spanning 92⁄3 innings. He has not allowed a run since yielding one to the Yankees on April 7 in his first appearance of the season. Harris recorded four outs in the Astros' 7-4 win against the Mariners on Wednesday night at Safeco Field, their first win in four games. "He's our unsung hero all the time in the 'pen," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "I put him in every situation available, whether it's mid-game, late- game. He usually is the guy that goes out and gets four outs for you. He's been exceptional since he's been an Astro. The value of having him down there to troubleshoot and get out of as many messes as he does is pretty remarkable." Harris' 0.82 ERA came into Thursday's games tied for fifth-best among American League relievers who have already logged at least 10 innings. He is inducing groundballs at an 80 percent rate, the best among AL relievers. "I feel pretty good," Harris said. "Just kind of same old, same old. I prepare every day the same. Just try and fill up the strike zone, try and pitch off my fastball and work in a few breaking balls to keep hitters off balanced, move the ball around.

As the Reds took an 11-4 loss to the Rockies on Saturday, Lorenzen pitched two innings with one earned run, two hits, no walks and three strikeouts. "It felt great," Lorenzen said. "A lot of weak contact, tons of ground balls, ground-ball outs and strikeouts. That's what I'm looking for, especially at Great American Ball Park. I threw everything that I have to offer. Everything felt crisp, good." Lorenzen threw all of his pitches -- the four-seam fastball, curveball, slider, changeup, and sinker. Following a 1-2-3 top of the first inning, he encountered some trouble in the second inning. A bloop double to left-center field by Jordan Patterson put a runner on, and he scored on a strikeout-wild pitch in the dirt to Tom Murphy. He then shook his head in disgust after the shot sailed through the air on the fair side of the left field pole for a three-run home run, pushing the Astros closer back to the AL West pack. Brought in to bolster the Astros’ rotation for the pennant stretch, Kazmir could not match his protégé Sonny Gray in his first outing against the A’s since Oakland traded him to his hometown team on July 23. Gray and reliever Ryan Dull combined for a shutout and Canha broke open a one-run game with his three-run home run to propel the A’s to a 4-0 victory before a crowd of 11,364. “It’s always frustrating losing games, especially at a time like this when we really need to take care of business,” Kazmir said. “You have to stay positive and trust what’s gotten us here this entire year, and we’ll be just fine. “We can’t let a game like this really bother us and we can’t let it carry on for tomorrow’s game and the series after that.” The AL West-leading Astros are now off to an 0-2 start on their crucial 10-game trip through Oakland, Anaheim and Arlington.
