Event Review Women’s 53kg Snatch · Hsu Shu-Ching (TPE) became the second gold medallist from Chinese Taipei in the women's 53kg event, after Feng-Ying Li who won five gold medals from 1999- 2001. · Chinese Taipei have now won three gold medals in the Snatch in the women's 53kg, surpassing Thailand for second most. China have won five gold medals. Clean and Jerk · Zulfiya Chinshanlo (KAZ) won the Clean and Jerk in a new world record (134 kilogrammes). She has now broken this world record four times and for the second time this year after she broke it in Incheon at the Asian Games in September. · It is the first year this world record is broken twice and also the first time this world record was broken by two or more kilogrammes. · Chinshanlo became the first woman to win the Clean and Jerk three times in the women's 53kg (2009, 2011, 2014), surpassing Li Ping (CHN), who won the Clean and Jerk in 2005 and 2007. · This was Kazakhstan's first gold medal at the 2014 World Championships. Their first gold medal since 2011, when they won seven events. Total · Zulfiya Chinshanlo (KAZ) has now won seven gold medals in the women's 53kg, surpassing the record held by Feng-Ying Li (TPE) who won five. · The eight medals in total for Chinshanlo is also a new record in this event, surpassing eight women who had won six medals. · Chinshanlo equalled Svetlana Podobekova (KAZ) on a record seven gold medals for a weightlifter from Kazakhstan. · Bronze medallist Li Yajun (CHN) became the third woman to claim three bronze in the women's 53kg at a single World Championship following Udomporn Polsak (THA) in 2002 and Robin Goad (USA) in 1998.
