Boating & Instructors- Summer & some Fall Opportunities Spend the summer out on Lake Merritt near the San Francisco Bay!

Salary: $12.26/hour plus $1.71/hour health and welfare benefit, 35-40 hours/week Summer (mid-June through late August) and limited year-round work available

Boating & Sailing Camp Instructor: Programs are held in a camp format at Lake Merritt Boating Center and Jack London Aquatic Center. Sailing Camps (ages 10+) run June- August and include Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, and Sailing. Explorer Boating Camps (ages 7-10) focus on muscle powered boats, environmental ecology, and nautical arts & crafts. Primary responsibilities include implementing classroom and on-water curriculum including boating skills and safety demonstrations, setting up and maintaining equipment, and rotating lunch and before/after care. Equipment used includes: small motorboat, Dinghy, , , , , JY 15, Catalina 14 Keelboat, Hobie Wave, , kayak, canoe, pedal boat, dragonboat, whaleboat, and rowboat.

Fall Programs: After School Sailing and Boating instruction for youth 8-18, Weekend Adult Sailing Classes, and 5th Grade Science and Boating Fieldtrip programs.

Required Qualifications: · 18 years of age by May 10, 2014 · Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade · Basic swimming skills · Outboard motorboat handling experience · All requirements for Recreation Leader I, PT for the City of Oakland

Applicants must possess at least one of the following: · American Sailing Association or US Sailing Small Boat Instructor Certification · Catamaran, Muscle Powered Boating, Paddling teaching experience · Sailing teaching experience · Dragonboat coaching experience · Certification in Basic First Aid & CPR & Powerboat Safety is a plus
