Reference: AE001 Overview Rational Quality Manager assists organizations of all sizes and levels of complexity to optimize organizational quality by introducing quality early in the application lifecycle and by coordinating quality processes and teams throughout the lifecycle. Rational Quality Manager V4.0.3 offers these main enhancements: • Integrating service virtualization with test management. By linking virtual components deployed in Rational Test Virtualization Server with test execution records in Rational Quality Manager, testers can plan and control virtual components availability for testing and accelerate testing cycles. • Increasing team productivity and agility. Enhanced keyword support for multi- channel testing helps QA teams reuse test scenarios across multiple end points such as web and mobile. • Accelerating adoption of new capabilities, thanks to enhanced integration with automated test execution solutions and quicker and easier adoption of the latest release. For organizations looking for a complete collaborative lifecycle management (CLM) solution, Rational Requirements Composer, Rational Team Concert , and Rational Quality Manager is delivered in one easy-to-install and easy-to-use solution that can be optimized for agile or traditional teams. IBM United States Software Announcement 213-236 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 1 By purchasing the three products that make up the Rational CLM solution, organizations have what they need to make software delivery a strategic business asset: real-time planning, lifecycle traceability, in-context collaboration, development intelligence, and continuous improvement. Rational Quality Manager is part of a larger vision described in The IBM Rational JazzTM Initiative, which is designed to advance the way teams collaborate to deliver software products and systems. Planned availability date • June 7, 2013: Electronic availability • July 5, 2013: Media availability Description Organizations face growing pressures to quickly deliver high-quality software that is aligned with business objectives. Some of the pressures include: • Delivering more with same or even fewer resources • Working in teams that are becoming even more geographically distributed • Adhering to organizational standards without having the processes defined or documented Rational Team Concert drives software innovation through collaboration, to transform how people, especially those who have project-distributed teams, work together to develop and deliver software in an increasingly rapid manner. Rational Team Concert provides unique capability that allows teams to collaborate in the context of their work, perform real-time planning, steer, and correct the course with constant visibility to project status and learn and adapt with continuous process improvement. Benefits of the new capabilities in Rational Team Concert V4.0.3 Simple and fast agile ranking New simplified agile ranking makes it easier to rank customers' backlog using an explicit ranking gesture to rank order a backlog. Position based drag and drop also retains the rank order as you navigate through a large backlog. Enhanced Visual Studio support and usability in WindowsTM Shell New "my work view" use cases are delivered for the developer to manage their to do lists, current work, approvals, and pending activity stream. The usability of the Windows shell is improved to make it easier for new users to get started with our Windows Explorer integration. Reporting capability on time spent and complex attributes such as approvals IBM added complex work item attributes, approval descriptors, and the "Modified By" of work items into the data warehouse. This allows users to write their own Rational Reporting for Development Intelligence reports to analyze that data. New IBM United States Software Announcement 213-236 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 2 easy-to-use BIRT-based reports are available such as user time sheets, team time sheets, or work-item specific time sheets. Enhanced Jenkins-Hudson integration A new Jenkins plug-in, which IBM contributed to the Jenkins project as an open source plug-in, allows teams to use their existing Jenkins-Hudson integration with Rational Team Concert SCM, without giving up traceability to work items and source code artifacts. This helps answer questions such as, what work items are in this Jenkins build and how do they relate to change sets in the Rational Team Concert SCM. This new integration also provides traceability links for build workspace, snapshot, and work item links. By supporting a deeper Jenkins integration, customers can incrementally adopt Rational Team Concert without changing their current build tools. It also opens up the Jenkins-Hudson ecosystem of plug-ins for use with Rational Team Concert , such as Sonar and many more. Deeper drill down and date checks in cross project plans Incremental improvements for cross-project plans are delivered. IBM currently shows only the tracked work items that are directly linked to a plan item on the cross-project plan. In Rational Team Concert V4.0.3, users can drill down and configure to which depth they want to be able to expand the tree. Additional performance improvements in plan loading In Rational Team Concert V4.0.1, plan loading performance is improved by 25%, which focused on large plan loading. In Rational Team Concert V4.0.3, there is additional improvement in performance. This is achieved by reducing the time it takes to load an empty plan, which benefits all plan loads regardless of size. Enhanced SCM command line performance With Rational Team Concert V4.0.3, customers can expect to see about a 10% performance improvement in command line operations. New support for Eclipse 4.2.2 while retaining backward compatibility Now developers can run the latest Rational Application Developer V9.x based development tools that are built on Eclipse V4.2.2. If customers need to run a mix of Rational Team Concert 3.x with clients running Rational Application Developer V8.x, and on the same Jazz server, run Rational Team Concert V4.0.3 with clients running Rational Application Developer V9.x, Rational Team Concert V4.0.3 can do that. Just remember, if customers need Eclipse V4.2.2 or Rational Application Developer V9.x support, then their server needs to be upgraded to Rational Team Concert V4.0.3. Improved ClearCase® importer The ability to import data from Rational ClearCase is enhanced to support more multi-stream and mutli-branch use cases as well as improved use of command line scripting to perform large import operations. Enterprise build and ISPF improvements1 Buildable subsets are an important feature of Rational Team Concert Developer for IBM Enterprise Platforms, but the existing tooling for creating and using them can be complex. In Rational Team Concert V4.0.3, the usability is improved and makes the translator search path configurable when customers run on IBM i. In addition, performance improvements are made to the preprocessing step and several improvements to the Rational Team Concert ISPF client. 1 Denotes new capabilities found in Rational Team Concert Developer for IBM Enterprise platforms.
