FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Matthew Chmura July 3, 2018 617.624.1913 Brandon McNelis 857.241.8343 Travis Basciotta 617.459.6853 Sarah McMahon 857.241.8352 BRUINS SIGN SEAN KURALY AND ANTON BLIDH BOSTON - Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, July 3, that the team has signed forward Sean Kuraly to a three-year contract through the 2020-21 season with an annual cap hit of $1.275 million. Sweeney also announced that the team has signed forward Anton Blidh to a one-year, two- way contract with an NHL cap hit of $650,000. Kuraly has spent the first two seasons of his NHL career with the Bruins after being acquired, along with a 2016 first-round pick (Trent Frederic), on July 1, 2015 in a trade that sent goaltender Martin Jones to San Jose. The 6-foot-2, 213-pound center recorded six goals and eight assists for 14 points in 75 games in 2017-18, his first full season in the NHL. He appeared in all 12 of Boston’s postseason games, tallying two goals and two assists for four points, while ranking third on the team with a plus-five rating. The 25-year-old forward has played a total of 83 regular-season games with Boston, accumulating six goals and nine assists for 15 points. He has competed in a total of 14 postseason games, registering four goals and two assists for six points. Prior to making the jump to the NHL, Kuraly played 54 games in the AHL with the Providence Bruins, scoring 14 goals and adding 12 assists for 26 points. The Dublin, Ohio native was originally selected by San Jose in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Blidh skated in 71 games with Providence in 2017-18, recording 11 goals and 15 assists for a career-high 26 points and a plus-nine rating. He added two goals in four postseason games, while also making one NHL appearance with Boston on March 19 against Columbus. The 23-year-old winger appeared in 19 games with Boston in 2016-17, tallying one goal and one assist. He also played 53 games with Providence in 2016-17, notching 10 goals and six assists for 16 points and a plus- six rating. In his first professional season with Providence in 2015-16, the 6-foot, 201-pound forward posted 10 goals and four assists for 14 points in 65 appearances. The Molnlycke, Sweden native was originally selected by the Bruins in the sixth round (180th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. #07/03/18# .

The P-Bruins got two goals from Ryan Fitzgerald along with goals from Anton Blidh, Jordan Szwarz, Trent Frederic and Austin Czarnik while Zane McIntyre made his 42nd start of the season in net. Providence dominated the zone time in the opening period and it showed on the scoreboard. After being held scoreless despite an 8-1 shots edge through six minutes, Blidh gave the P-Bruins a 1-0 lead at 7:59. Taking a pass from Cameron Hughes, Blidh started a 2-on-1 break with Jack Studnicka up the right side. Rather than pass, Blidh surprised Hartford goalie Alexander Georgiev with a wrister from inside the right circle for his 11th goal of the season. Just 1:11 later, Szwarz doubled that lead with his 21st goal of the season. At the bottom of the left circle, he blasted a one-timer in off a pass from Fitzgerald to give Providence a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. That domination continued into period number two with Providence tacking on a trio of goals. Fitzgerald found the back of the net on the power play at 2:58, tapping a beautiful feed from Czarnik in from the crease to make things 3-0 Providence. He struck again at 8:37, taking advantage of a poor Hartford clearing attempt.

The P-Bruins got goals from Zac Rinaldo, Peter Cehlarik, Sean Kuraly and Chris Casto while Anton Khudobin got his third straight start in net. The P-Bruins were outshot in the opening period but got on the board first at 7:47. Noel Acciari sent a shot that goalie John Muse was able to stop initially, but the puck squirted free in the crease. Rinaldo jumped on the puck quickly and snuck it in for his fifth goal of the season. Matt Bartkowski picked up the secondary assist on the play as Providence entered the break up 1-0. Rochester tied the score 1-1 at 8:56 off a goal from the right point that Erik Burgdoerfer hit off the left post and in, but Providence responded quickly to regain the lead. At 12:00, Matt Grzelcyk came up the left side and sent a centering pass to Cehlarik who sent in his team leading 15th goal of the season. Szwarz earned the secondary assist as Providence held a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. After Providence took a 3-1 lead off a beautiful Kuraly goal set up by Bartkowski, Rochester rallied for two goals from Justin Bailey with the goalie pulled to the tie the score at three with 54 seconds left.

The P-Bruins got two goals from Danton Heinen and goals apiece from Anton Blidh and Ryan Fitzgerald while Zane McIntyre made his 15th straight postseason start in net. Syracuse opened the scoring just over eight minutes into the opening period, taking advantage of their first power play. Matt Taormina sent a pass from the blue line over to Cory Conacher at the top of the right circle. He blasted a one-timer by McIntyre for his fifth goal of the playoffs as the Crunch went up 1-0. That lead doubled at 14:18, as Michael Bournival tipped a Mathieu Brodeur slap shot from the blue line that found the back of the net for his fourth postseason goal as Syracuse entered the intermission up 2-0. The Crunch netted a third goal five minutes into the second, chasing McIntyre from the game. With Yanni Gourde screening him in front, Matt Taormina fired a shot from the blue line by the All-Star goalie to make things 3-0 and force Providence to bring Malcolm Subban in for the first time this postseason. The P-Bruins responded after the change in net, showing signs of life and getting on the board with 2:25 left in the period.
