Huge quantity of contraband substance recovered by Ladakh Police, FIR lodged On specific information from reliable sources, regarding the transportation of contraband substance, on 11- 09-2021, a Police team headed by DySP Hq Leh Ishtyaq A A K Kacho-JKPS along with SHO Leh Inspector Mohd Yousuf and Incharge Police Post Housing Colony SI Rigzin Gurmet, intercepted a truck bearing No. PB 32 L -9987 driven by Amandeep Kumar S/O Darshan Lal R/O Bora Hoshiarpur Punjab near Gurudwara Pather Saheb .

On thorough search of the truck, for which proper search warrant was obtained from Chief Judicial Magistrate Leh , in presence of the Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses , the team succeeded in recovering 199 kgs and 100 gms of contraband substance of poppy plant , Phukki, packed in sack bags, coming from side and meant to be transported to Punjab from the possession of the driver ,Amandeep Singh alias Vicky. On this, the accused was arrested on spot for which case FIR No.229/2021 under Section 08/15 NDPS Act was already registered at Police Station Leh. SSP Leh Sh.Rajiv Pandey-IPS who himself supervised and coordinated from interception till recovery ,appreciated the police team and the team of Anti-Narcotics Task Force J&K , Jammu for successful interception and recovery of the contraband substance. The accused is presently on remand in Police Custody and lodged at the lock up of Police Station Leh.

Sh. RK Mathur, Hon’ble LG, UT-Ladakh launches Tourist wing of Ladakh Police from District Police Line, Leh. The event conducted in presence of Sh. Umang Narula, Advisor to Hon’ble LG, Sh. Pawan Kotwal, Principal Secretary, Planning/ Health/ Forest & Revenue, Sh. SS Khandare, ADGP, Ladakh and other prominent guests.

Tourist Wing Uniform, Cap and Logo were also unveiled during the event. A total of 09 vehicles were flagged off which are equipped with Tourist Information Brochures. The vehicles also display QR CODES which can be scanned to access tourist feedback forms for leaving feedback regarding suggestions & further improvements.

A separate Tourist Wing within Ladakh Police was conceived for better facilitation of tourists visiting Ladakh. It was developed on the motivation of Sh RK Mathur, Hon’ble LG, UT Ladakh and duly assisted and guided by Sh. Umang Narula, Advisor to Hon’ble LG.

Deployment of 09 vehicles at prominent tourist locations chosen strategically in both Leh & district in the 1st phase including Zanskar, Drass, Kargil City in & , Lake, Khardongla Pass, Changla Pass, Sangam Point and Leh City in .

Ladakh Police aims to enhance the tourist wing by increasing the coverage and utilizing more technology in near future.

1) Full day rescue work was carried out on July 29 in difficult terrain by the UTDRF rescue team (Kargil) at flood-affected areas of Khaws Thang Area in District Kargil.

2) The UTDRF rescue team (Kargil) is carrying out hectic efforts at Faroona Village of Sub-Division by providing assistance in all ways. Full efforts are being made to ensure maximum timely relief support to the locals in need.
