Durham County Council Council Plan 2020-2023 Executive Summary County Durham is a dynamic place, used to overcoming challenges and reinventing itself. Recently, the council and partners agreed a vision for County Durham for 2035 following extensive consultation with our residents. Over 30,000 responses helped shape a vision that people recognise. This is to create more and better jobs, help people live long and independent lives and support communities to be well connected and supportive of each other. Our purpose holds to deliver on these ambitions against a context of COVID-19. This plan sets out how we will achieve this. We want to create more and better jobs by supporting businesses emerging from lockdown back to stability and help to rebuild our economy. We are developing a pipeline of projects and investment plans; our roadmap to help stimulate economic recovery. We will create major employment sites across the county, cementing our position as a premier place in the region to do business. Employability support programmes will be developed to help people back into employment or to start their own business. As young people return to our schools and colleges, we will ensure that they receive a good education and training to equip them with the skills they need to access opportunities of today and the future. We will help our tourism and hospitality sector to recover as a great visitor destination with a cultural offer which will help stimulate the local economy. We want our residents to live long and independent lives and remain in good health for many years to come. -

Tees Valley Joint Minerals and Waste Development Plan Documents In association with Policies & Sites DPD Adopted September 2011 27333-r22.indd 1 08/11/2010 14:55:36 i Foreword The Tees Valley Minerals and Waste Development Plan Documents (DPDs) - prepared jointly by the boroughs of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees - bring together the planning issues which arise from these two subjects within the sub-region. Two DPDs have been prepared. The Minerals and Waste Core Strategy contains the long-term spatial vision and the strategic policies needed to achieve the key objectives for minerals and waste developments in the Tees Valley. This Policies and Sites DPD, which conforms with that Core Strategy, identifies specific sites for minerals and waste development and sets out policies which will be used to assess minerals and waste planning applications. The DPDs form part of the local development framework and development plan for each Borough. They cover all of the five Boroughs except for the part of Redcar and Cleveland that lies within the North York Moors National Park. (Minerals and waste policies for that area are included in the national park’s own local development framework.) The DPDs were prepared during a lengthy process of consultation. This allowed anyone with an interest in minerals and waste in the Tees Valley the opportunity to be involved. An Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State carried out an Examination into the DPDs in early 2011. He concluded that they had been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and were sound. -

Title: Procurement Report for the provision of a National Driver Offender Re-Training Scheme (NDORS) revision - Update Executive Summary: Further to decision record number 2021 – 00270567 please see below updated decision to reflect concerns raised during the Alcatel period. Attendance on an NDORS Scheme is offered to members of the public (the Client) who would benefit from attending a driver education course, following Police intervention. The Client may be offered the opportunity to attend a course, often as a voluntary alternative to their offence being dealt with through the Criminal Justice System. The Scheme provides the Client with relevant re-training to enable them to improve their attitudes, driving skills and road awareness with the outcome of improving road safety. On 1st September 2014 a joint procurement exercise, led by Durham Police Procurement, was undertaken to identify one supplier to provide NDORS courses required for the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Cleveland (OPCC) and the Office of the Durham Police Crime and Victims’ Commissioner (ODPCVC) across the counties of Cleveland, Durham and the Borough of Darlington. This contract was awarded to Hartlepool Borough Council for a period of 3 years with the option to extend for a further 2 years. As a result of internal reviews on service delivery and subsequently the Covid-19 Pandemic, the current contract was extended to 31st March 2021 to enable a full and competitive tender process to be carried out. A decision was made to ensure continuity of service to award the new contract for a period of 5 years with a further 2-year extension available. -

Durham County Record Office County Hall Durham DH1 5UL Telephone: 03000 267619 Email: [email protected] Website: www.durhamrecordoffice.org.uk Handlist 13 – Grave Plans Issue no. 6 July 2020 Introduction This leaflet explains some of the problems surrounding attempts to find burial locations, and lists those useful grave plans which are available at Durham County Record Office. In order to find the location of a grave you will first need to find which cemetery or churchyard a person is buried in, perhaps by looking in burial registers, and then look for the grave location using grave registers and grave plans. To complement our lists of churchyard burial records (see below) we have published a book, Cemeteries in County Durham, which lists civil cemeteries in County Durham and shows where records for these are available. Appendices to this book list non-conformist cemeteries and churchyard extensions. Please contact us to buy a copy. Parish burial registers Church of England burial registers generally give a date of burial, the name of the person and sometimes an address and age (for more details please see information about Parish Registers in the Family History section of our website). These registers are available to be viewed in the Record Office on microfilm. Burial register entries occasionally give references to burial grounds or grave plot locations in a marginal note. For details on coverage of parish registers please see our Parish Register Database and our Parish Registers Handlist (in the Information Leaflets section). While most burial registers are for Church of England graveyards there are some non-conformist burial grounds which have registers too (please see appendix 3 of our Cemeteries book, and our Non-conformist Register Handlist).
