The Amazing Chase brought life, fun, and good-natured competition to Downtown Dover for the third year in a row on Thursday, Septem- ber 12th. Fourteen teams, with crazy, creative names, donned their unique costumes, grabbed their first clues and took off at break-neck speed through center city. The Chase was on – and it promised to be nothing short of AMAZING! Each team had to solve clues in order to find the ten participating member merchant loca- tions. Upon arrival at each location, they were given a challenge. In order to move on directly, they were required to successfully complete the challenge. The challenges involved dressing up in crazy items, answering silly trivia questions, performing stunts, etc. Of course, they had to do all of this as quickly as possible in order to triumph over the other teams who were doing the same things… after all, it was the first team to finish that would win the cash prize and brag- ging rights! Our Downtown became a complete frenzy of fast fun! A special thank you to our sponsors for the evening – M & T Bank and the City of Dover. Thank you also to our many merchants who joined in the fun: Bayard Pharmacy, Bel Bou- tique, Delaware State University, Grey Fox Grille, OnQ Financial, Sold Out Sneaks, The Golden Fleece, The Wedding Boutique, The Wil- lis Group, & Wesley United Methodist Church. Tracey has volunteered with Meals on Wheels for two years and is described by the organization as a “champion.” Tracey has worked specifically on the Sip & Savor event, secur- ing sponsorships, auction items, and restaurant participation. Her goal mirrors that of the organiza- tion: “to raise funds to support homebound seniors.” Tracey, a local Marketing Communications and Revenue Streaming Consultant, was raised in a household where community spirit was prevalent. “My love of family, community, and country was the result of the cornerstone Tracey Miller teachings of my mother, “explains Tracey. “I volunteer because it enriches lives, brings us together as a community, and helps keep businesses and other organiza- tions afloat.” Rae Short, for whom the award was named, was the quintessential volunteer. Whenever the oppor- tunity presented itself, wherever there was a need, in situations where good ideas were lacking and helping hands were at a shortage, Rae delighted in jumping in and giving assistance. Rae also had a knack for including others in her volunteer efforts. It is a gift to the community that a whole year after her passing, her legacy of service to the community promises to continue for a long time to come. Rae Short would have certainly agreed with Tracey’s sentiments: “We, as a society, have to give of our hearts, our minds, and our hands to ensure a bright and pos- itive future for our children. They learn from our example.” Congratulations, Tracy – and thank you from giving from your heart and through your hands! Rae Short 20 Chamber Connections, October 2019 5 Star Members
