SCHEDULE A, PART III, LINE 4

LIST OF CHARITABLE NEEDS

The following are categories of specific charitable needs consistent with the purposes of the Federation, as determined by the Community Foundation Board of Trustees. These categories reflect the broad scope of purpose of the Federation and the interests of the Jewish community in advancing human needs through a wide range of activities. In determining its priorities, the Community Foundation acknowledges the benefits derived by the Jewish people from supporting projects in social welfare, medical, educational, cultural, scientific, and humanitarian fields, which may not otherwise be supported by the Federation through funds normally available for operating purposes.

Since unanticipated or unusual needs may arise, it may be necessary to make exceptions to, or modifications of, the following needs for emergency situations or innovative projects, determined by the Federation as deserving of support at that time. The term "charitable" includes religious, educational, scientific, humanitarian, medical, cultural, and other purposes encompassed within the term and shall include only those organizations as described in Section 170 (c) and 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, and all amendments thereto.

NEEDS BY CATEGORIES OF ORGANIZATIONS

A. The Federation and its constituent and beneficiary agencies. B. Organizations in the United States serving Jewish Charitable purposes. C. Charitable organizations primarily serving Harris and contiguous counties of Texas in the fields of education, inter-group relations, civic, culture, health service, scientific and social service. D. Charitable organizations outside Harris and contiguous counties of Texas which the Federation determines provide an identifiable benefit for the welfare of the greater Houston community .
