SID Asst. SID Asst. SID Asst. Video 2 -- air force men’s soccer 2011 HEAD COACH DOUG HILL Doug Hill enters his fifth season as head coach at Air Force in 2011. Hill spent 13 seasons as an assistant coach at Air Force before being promoted to head coach in June of 2007. A 1983 THE HILL FILE graduate of the Academy, Hill guided the Falcons to a 7-12 overall Hometown record and a 5-5 mark in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, Fleetwood, Pa. good for a third-place finish in the Mountain Division in ‘10. He enters the 2011 campaign with a 24-45-3 career record. Education In his four seasons at the helm, Hill has coached 15 Falcons U.S. Air Force Academy to all-conference honors, including five last season, four of whom B.S., Focus on Engineering, 1983 were underclassmen. This season, Hill has 17 letterwinners and nine starters returning from last year’s squad. In fact, eight of the Univ. of Northern Colorado 11 players that notched at least one point last season are back. M.A., Sports Administration, 1994 Hill, who holds a United States Soccer Federation “A” Playing Experience license, was a four-year varsity letterman at Air Force and played for his predecessor, Lou U.S. Air Force Academy Sagastume. He was team captain both his junior and senior seasons. In all four years, Hill 1979-82 helped the Falcons win the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Soccer League championship. After graduation, he remained at the Academy as the assistant soccer coach and a physical Four-year letterwinner education instructor for one year. Two-time Team Captain, 1981-82 Hill left the Academy in 1984 for Dyess AFB, Texas, where he was an instructor navi- All-RMISL, 1981-82 gator in the C-130 aircraft. In addition, he assisted and filled in as the interim head soccer coach for the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Hardin-Simmons University (Texas) from All-Air Force Team 1986-1988. In 1988, he led the women’s team to the National Association of Intercollegiate 1985, 1987, 1999, 2000 Athletics (NAIA) championship game and finished second in the nation. He also played on Coaching Experience the all-Air Force soccer team in 1985 and 1987 and coached the 1986 team. USSF “A” License After eight years away from the Academy, Hill returned as an assistant coach in 1992 1994 and helped guide the Falcons to consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament in ‘92 and ‘93. In 1993, the Falcons advanced to the Final Eight after beating undefeated and No. 1-ranked Air Force, Head Coach Creighton, 2-1, in four overtimes on the road in the first round. The 1996 team advanced to 2007-present the WAC championships after going 14-3-3 during the regular season, while the 1997 squad earned a trip to the NCAA Tourney.
