Report to Our Community Fiscal Year 2017–2018 Report to Our Community JULY 1, 2017–JUNE 30, 2018 Dear Friends, 2017–2018 was a year of celebration and growth at the Morean Arts Center—one in which we celebrated our proud history and welcomed new ideas and programs. For over 100 years we have been a catalyst in transforming St. Petersburg into a creative hub and gathering place where thousands of people share in artistic experiences that speak across economic, social, and generational boundaries. We welcome all people and offer the encouragement (and the training) to find your expressive self. Artists play an important role in helping us understand that diversity is our strength. We strive to present a mix of artists and programming that are relevant and rewarding to our community. We believe our programming should reflect the diverse community we serve. Free programming for the community, such as Family Day, Saturdays and Sundays @ the Morean and Operation: Art of Valor, is at the core of our mission and all activities are designed to be inclusive: all ages, backgrounds, socio-economic groups, and ethnicities. We are an economic engine in St. Petersburg and boost the energy of downtown, providing employment and artistic opportunities to hundreds of talented people each year. We enhance the quality of life in St. Petersburg. For over 100 years, the Morean Arts Center has been able to realize its vision for the future thanks to the generous support of our friends, corporations, foundations and the local, state and federal government. By partnering with the Morean Arts Center, you make a real difference in the community by ensuring the cultural vitality and tradition of the arts in our area. I also want to express my deepest appreciation to the dedicated staff and Board for their steadfast commitment to advancing the Morean’s mission of connecting people with art. Thank you! Sincerely, Susan Reiter Board Chair OPEN STUDIOS An opportunity for artists Culture to use our studio spaces to work independently Experiences on artistic projects.
