CS SAMACHAR VOL. 1 | ISSUE 1 | OCTOBER 2020 IEEE COMPUTER SOCIETY HYDERABAD CHAPTER PAGE No.: 02 IEEE Hyderabad Section The inception of the IEEE Hyderabad Section happened on 13th May 1984, the Section was initially a Subsection which was formed in the mid of 1981 with 25 IEEE members. With growing trends and technology, IEEE Hyderabad Section never stepped back from achieving a larger set of goals and the change in the membership count of the Section has also been tremendous over the years. Starting with just one Chapter IEEE Hyderabad Section today has fully grown to have 16 chapters and 3 Affinity Groups in it. The different Chapters are CAS/EDS Joint Chapter, CIS/GRSS Joint Chapter, CS Chapter, ComSoc/SP Joint Chapter, Education Society, MTT/AP/EMC Joint Chapter, PES/IAS/PELS Joint Chapter, PS Chapter and TEMS along with the 3 Affinity Groups which are Life Members, Women in Engineering and Young Professionals Affinity Group. It has received several Awards and Recognition for its active participation and contribution over the years. The vision of IEEE Hyderabad Section is to be an essential resource for the professional development in specific fields of interest of IEEE for the benefit of mankind and the mission it runs on is to provide a platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and career development to the local technical community. IEEE Hyderabad Section has only been so active and successful because of its members who work round the clock to strike the level of perfection in everything they do. IEEE Hyderabad Section holds a biennial signature conference known as HYDCON which offers insightful plenary talks, keynote addresses, tutorials & workshops by leaders in academic research. The Section Student Congress (SSC) happening annually focuses on providing a platform to all the Student Branches to come together, share their thoughts, ideas and the best practices, to learn and gain knowledge from each other and share common ideas and goals to fulfil the vision of IEEE. CS SAMACHAR VOL. 1 | ISSUE 1 | OCTOBER 2020 IEEE COMPUTER SOCIETY HYDERABAD CHAPTER PAGE No.: 03 IEEE Computer Society Hyderabad Chapter IEEE Computer Society chapter under Hyderabad section is one of the most active chapters of IEEE in India which was formally introduced at Hyderabad in June 1981 serving more than 60,000 members. It is the trusted information, networking and career development source for younger minds which includes educators, software engineers, IT professionals, employers and students. It was driven with technology, passion and people with utmost enthusiasm for volun- teering and the entire team encompasses several members who strive to make a difference and promote better use of technology. Our student volunteers are backed by a diligent executive committee team that never fails to provide the right kind of support to carry out an event meticu- lously. The mission is “To deliver a common, high-quality IEEE student member experience, for lifelong professional success through IEEE membership”. Strengthen the partnership between student activities and all other IEEE societies and affinity groups of the section. Its vision is to be an essential resource for professional development in specific fields of inter- est of IEEE for the benefit of mankind. IEEE Hyderabad Section consists of several chapters with unique inventions each of them contains affinity groups which allow students to volunteer and as well as to organize webinars and sessions which would be helpful for younger minds. The sec- tion has four chapters one is Computer Society (CS) and others including joint chapters of PES/IAS/PELS, MTT/AP/EMC along with three subsections Vizag Bay Subsection, Guntur (Amara- vathi) Subsection and Ananthapur Subsection. The subsection has been very active since its start- ing days. The first counting education program was on the course “SINGLE PROCESSING” and the session was on “SECURE COMMUNICATIONS” with 100+ delegates making their presence. Through this society, many volunteers came to limelight, student networking increased and many opportunities were given to student branches. IEEE Student Activities Committee (SAC) is responsible for student programs, benefits and making recommendations to the section. Computer Society always organizes activities which students are interested to learn and it even strengthens the partnership between student activities and all other IEEE Societies and Affinity groups of the section. SAC chair is also responsible for encouraging Student Branches to participate in Regional and MGA SAC competitions and to apply for awards. The conviction made out by the section gave grand success by attracting the students and gave them a brief about the core knowledge. Many events had been conducted under Hyderabad section some of them are AHCSSC, AI in Healthcare and medicine, Relation Application transportation using Big Data, Awareness on Cybersecurity, Cybercrime, Webinar on AI Approach and Speech Recognition. All the webinars were successful through which students grabbed an opportunity to gain more information. Innovating the themes and applying them in the right manner to achieve the goal of educating students and improving their knowledge is the primary thing for IEEE Computer Society Hyderabad Section. CS SAMACHAR VOL. 1 | ISSUE 1 | OCTOBER 2020 IEEE COMPUTER SOCIETY HYDERABAD CHAPTER PAGE No.: 04 Editorial Team Message We hope you are safe and healthy at home in this Novel Coronavirus. We bring you the first-ever volume of IEEE Computer Society Hyderabad Section Newsletter “CS SAMACHAR”. There was a time when everyone was sitting at home with a fear of COVID pandemic, their career, academics and exams. For almost ten days since lockdown every one of us was worried, we all the lost the regular life we used to have every day, the activities under IEEE started to decrease rapidly without the students at college. Then the IEEE Computer Society Hyderabad Section came up with a revolution in everyone lives connecting them digitally with this NEWSLETTER. IEEE Computer Society Hyderabad Section came up with a series of Activities and Webinars in Technical Topics hence educating student members and also developing volunteers. It never left any opportunity that can enhance students in every aspect. Since then, we started to develop as future leaders connecting with various young talents, exploring ourselves and discovering hidden skills. In this first edition of the newsletter, We have published about the exceptional AHCSSC, CS Website, the success of hackathons and Ideathon - “UNLOCK 14.0”, “Evolve-X” and the incredible activities organised during covid19 pandemic which played a major role in developing student’s professional career. We tried every extend to provide details of Students Achievements, College Activities and Chapter Activities so that when coming through it they may get inspired to do something new and find it motivational to start their success journey. We were all connected to this new podium virtually. Initially, it felt difficult for us to mingle but, when we started the work, we felt more like a family. The energy of one volunteer helped the other to work with the same spirit we helped each other shared our loads and greeted when we had achievements. We wish to have the same never-ending bond and enthusiasm to come up with new ideas to enlighten students helping them in academics.
