Public libraries in five regions, namely Alan gayam, Ambur, Kaveripakkam, Ranipet and Vellore corporation are surveyed through questionnaire method. A total of 500 questionnaires were distributed. It is found from the study that 44.39% visit libraries weekly to get information on employment opportunities, 40.86% visit for getting information on jobs in the private sector, lion’s share (83.6%) are not members of SHG, more than 60% of the public library users opined that the library is helpful for seeking employment opportunities. AYUTHAVEL KALAIMANI Aarohi, No.192,7th Block, Jayanagar, Bangalore 560011 Karnataka, India Email: [email protected] INTRODUCTION The Indian golden gecko Calodactylodes aureus (Beddome, 1870) is endemic to the Eastern Ghats mountain range of peninsular India (Bauer & Das, 2000; Kalaimani & Nath, 2012, 2013; Reddy et al., 2013; Srinivasalu et al.,2014). It prefers rocky areas with deep stream valleys and has been observed at elevations between 50 and 1000 m and reported to lay eggs in communal egg deposition sites (Bauer & Das, 2000; Javed et al., 2007) on rocky surfaces, mostly on vertical rocks in both natural and human-inhabited areas. This paper gives information on mass egg laying sites of C. aureus in Tirupattur Forest Division, Eastern Ghats, Tamil Nadu. METHODS Figure 1. Priya1, Lakshmi Thangavelu2 ABSTRACT Back ground: River Palar is one of the most contaminated rivers of India due to various industries. Aim:To study the fluoride concentration in the Pallar river. Four river water samples were collected during the pre-monsoon season spanning over June 2015. Methodology: Fluoride levels were analyzed by standardized analytical method by the Chief Water Analyst, State Level Water Testing Laboratory, Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai (ISO 9001–2000 - Certified). Result: In the present study, fluoride contents in all samples ranged between 0.18 and 0.22 mg/l, which are less than the optimum range of 1.5 mg/l, as recommended by the WHO.
