  • E-NEWSLETTER Bill Jolly Who Is That Man with the Iconic Piano Scarf? It's
E-NEWSLETTER Proview Extra – get the latest info from Korg! Bill Jolly Who is that man with the iconic piano scarf? It’s Bill Jolly, three time Emmy-Award winning musical director and keyboardist who has accompanied such greats as Michael Bolton, Brian McKnight, Celine Dion, Gerald Levert, Grover Washington Jr., Jill Scott, Stevie Wonder, Teddy Pendergrass, and Usher. ABC, NBC, BET, VH1, and HBO are just some of the many stations where you may have heard his jingles and scores. Bill is respected not only for his piano playing chops, but also for his producing, audio engineering, and songwriting talents as well. Bill’s love for music originated with his early exposure to the soulful sounds of James Brown. He would imitate the drumbeats with his mouth, or by beating on his desk, as early as the first grade. His parents bought him a set of drums, and he eventually started a band. When the pianist left the band, Bill got frustrated and taught himself how to play keyboard and has played from that time on. Where did Bill get his much-admired piano scarf? His mother made it for him when he was in high school. Since the passing of his mother, his biggest supporter, Bill decided to do an original CD that he entitled, Behind the Scarf, as a tribute to her. This scarf represents a sense of identity for Bill, “We all have to have something about us that makes people recognize us, and the scarf is just one of those things,” Bill confides. “Even if someone couldn’t remember me by name, they would say, ‘You remember that guy with the keyboard scarf?’” This album is this sideman’s way of bringing his own vision to the forefront.

  • Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: an Analysis Into Graphic Design's
Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres by Vivian Le A THESIS submitted to Oregon State University Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems (Honors Scholar) Presented May 29, 2020 Commencement June 2020 AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Vivian Le for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems presented on May 29, 2020. Title: Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

  • Jason Marsh) Has Studied Under the Guid-Ance of Famed Music Engineer Paul Minor
Strait 8 Black Pyramid Records Email: [email protected] www.blackpyramidbpr.com Strait 8 Strait 8 are eight very musically gifted artists - who happen to be brothers - effortlessly combining the classic sound of groups such as The Temptations and The Jackson 5 with the sound of the soul of hip-hop's Bone Thugs N Harmo- ny. They plan to release their artistic ability in a way that empowers others - without sacrificing their lyrical content and mass appeal. Joshua, Nathan, Jason, Isaac, Solomon, Samuel, Jake and Jeremy (JP) Marsh, want their fan base to be con- nected to them at all times. They also have a stage presence that's very hard to follow, as a matter of fact, when they toured with Bone Thugs -N- Harmony from New York to Cleveland to the DMV they left crowds totally turn't up and turned out. (Nu-Era) Ike (Isaac Marsh) is the lead second tenor and baritone of the group. He is very family oriented as he vividly remembers going to church every Sunday with his siblings. The brothers were al-ways together singing and playing tag football with their father. Sonny (Solomon Marsh) is the first born of a set of twins. He is the lead second tenor and baritone. Af-ter opening for the late Gerald Levert, Solomon remembers, Mr. Levert congratulated them on a great show and remarked that he wished they had longer to perform because he was really enjoying their performance. Sam (Samuel Marsh) is the first tenor of the group hitting notes that wooed women out of their seats.

BANSHEE "Pilot" by Jonathan Tropper & David Schickler May 16, 2011 EXT. ATTICA PRISON - MORNING An outer gate slowly opens to reveal... LUCAS HOOD (40) -- lean, rugged, dangerous-looking -- standing in a holding area, just being released. He wears a denim shirt and jeans. He steps past the gate, watches it close behind him, and only then turns to face the world. VARIOUS SHOTS OF LUCAS: Walking along the highway/ On a city bus, looking out the window/ In a mostly empty bar, drinking a beer. He makes eye contact with the SEXY BARTENDER. She flashes a flirty look. INT. THE BAR’S STOCKROOM Lucas roughly pulls the bartender’s tank top over her head. She’s wearing nothing beneath it. She kisses him as he moves her back against a stand of beer kegs. He pulls off her skirt and panties and then he’s fucking her up against the kegs. CLOSE ON Lucas’s hungry expression: he hasn’t touched a woman in years. EXT. BAR PARKING LOT Lucas expertly hot-wires an S.U.V. and then we cut to... EXT. HIGHWAY - DAY Lucas drives the S.U.V. - PULL BACK to see he’s driving ON THE GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE toward the Manhattan Skyline. EXT. HISHI SALON - DAY A large, trendy, Greenwich Village hair salon. Lucas crosses the street and steps inside. INT. HISHI SALON - CONTINUOUS Techno MUSIC. Flamboyant haircutters work and gossip. Lucas takes in the scene, then moves with purpose toward the back. 2. An ATTRACTIVE ASIAN STYLIST (35) in a tight leather miniskirt sees Lucas through the mirror as she cuts a woman’s hair.
