NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE' INTRODUCTION The 1990's has been a decade of labor strife between ownership and players in professional football, basketball and baseball. Television revenues, advertising dollars and licensing agreements now have enormous ramifications as the popularity of professional sports has reached an all-time high worldwide. This rise in popularity in the United States and abroad has brought with it a substantial increase in the amount of money earned by professional sports franchises, and subsequently, the money paid to the professional athletes who play for them. Numerous strikes, lockouts and court battles have been waged as the parties jockey for control of those dollars.
