Belmont Park Cooler Policy • All coolers, bags, purses, containers, tote bags, backpacks, etc. are subject to search • Coolers are restricted to the grandstand backyard area • Patrons carrying coolers must enter the Leaving the Park (after the Stakes race) To ensure the safe and orderly boarding of LIRR trains, the MTA Police Department will employ a color-coded train track at either the paddock or the west end queuing system. LIRR personnel will be assigned at key locations to assist customers. Announcements will provide grandstand admission gates customers with train departure information. Wait times can range from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Once inside the queuing area, customers can expect wait times of 15 - 60 minutes. Keller’s father supported the young teen’s ambition, and he drove him all over Long Island to photograph the various L.I.R.R. stations. Keller later became a fixture at the “PD” tower in Patchogue, where he learned all about the history and operation of the railroad. During college, he worked for the L.I.R.R for three summers, first as a ticket clerk and later as a special services attendant. Keller and fellow avid railfan and writer Steven Lynch have published two books of L.I.R.R. photographs: The Long Island Rail Road 1925-1975 (Images of Rail) (2004) and Revisiting the Long Island Rail Road: 1925-75 (2005).
