Cuomo, Governor of the State of New York Members of the New York State Legislature On behalf of the Board of Directors of the New York Thoroughbred Breeding and Development Fund, I am pleased to present this annual report for 2013. This report includes information on revenue, award payments, research funding, promotional spending and operational improvements made during the past year. The performances of registered New York-breds on racetracks and in sales pavilions, as well as the expansion of farms during the past year, demonstrate that the Fund is accomplishing its mission to “support by monetary incentives the responsible breeding of quality Thoroughbred racehorses in keeping with the founding legislation to preserve New York’s irreplaceable farm land.” The award programs administered by the Fund are demonstrably encouraging people to breed, buy and race our home-grown product. The Fund is a pass-through organization that collects revenue from the racing industry and sends a minimum of 91% of that revenue back to stakeholders in the form of agricultural awards, purse enrichment for NY-breds and support for equine research.

  • Tht Bloodstock: Patterns of Motion Analysis with Kerry Thomas and Pete Denk
THT BLOODSTOCK: PATTERNS OF MOTION ANALYSIS WITH KERRY THOMAS AND PETE DENK KENTUCKY DERBY 147 | MAY 1, 2021 | THT BLOODSTOCK: PATTERNS OF MOTION | 1 KENTUCKY DERBY 2021 HERD DYNAMICS ANALYSIS A personal note from Kerry M. Thomas This year’s Kentucky Derby report was in jeopardy. Not because of all that has been going on in the world, but because the uncertainty and overwhelming emotional stress in my personal life had me close to pulling out the white flag. My dearly beloved life-partner Tonia, who had been battling cancer since the summer of 2018, passed away in March. Breast cancer had traveled to her brain, (my father died of brain cancer, also at home, in 2002) and two days after my birthday on October 22, 2020, we were told Tonia had 6 months to live. She passed on March 6th, 2021. Two days after Tonia left us, my mother, who I also am caregiver for, fell and fractured her hip. At the writing of this very sentence my mother is yet in a rehab facility struggling to recover. It goes without saying that as March churned into April, doing our 11th derby report wasn’t high on my list of things to do. But there was something that wasn’t right about not doing our analysis of the contenders. It was a quiet nudge I was unable to ignore. I just couldn’t let the horses run away from me. I began to realize that not doing the report wasn’t an option, I needed the distraction. Horses are my passion and racing is the sport I love.

King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored by QIPCO) Ascot Racecourse Background Information for the 65th Running Saturday, July 25, 2015 Winners of the Investec Derby going on to the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored by QIPCO) Unbeaten Golden Horn, whose victories this year include the Investec Derby and the Coral-Eclipse, will try to become the 14th Derby winner to go on to success in Ascot’s midsummer highlight, the Group One King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Sponsored by QIPCO), in the same year and the first since Galileo in 2001. Britain's premier all-aged 12-furlong contest, worth a boosted £1.215 million this year, takes place at 3.50pm on Saturday, July 25. Golden Horn extended his perfect record to five races on July 4 in the 10-furlong Group One Coral- Eclipse at Sandown Park, beating older opponents for the first time in great style. The three-year-old Cape Cross colt, owned by breeder Anthony Oppenheimer and trained by John Gosden in Newmarket, captured Britain's premier Classic, the Investec Derby, over 12 furlongs at Epsom Downs impressively on June 6 after being supplemented following a runaway Betfred Dante Stakes success at York in May. If successful at Ascot on July 25, Golden Horn would also become the fourth horse capture the Derby, Eclipse and King George in the same year. ËËË Three horses have completed the Derby/Eclipse/King George treble in the same year - Nashwan (1989), Mill Reef (1971) and Tulyar (1952). ËËË The 2001 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes saw Galileo become the first Derby winner at Epsom Downs to win the Ascot contest since Lammtarra in 1995.

He won the Curlin Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park in his last start, and an allowance race, also at Gulfstream, before that on Feb. 26 and is trained by two-time Derby-winning trainer Todd Pletcher (Always Dreaming, 2017 and Super Saver, 2010). The Florida Derby has produced more Ken- tucky Derby winners than any other prep race (24) and six Kentucky Derby winners since 2000. Third in the Rem- sen (G2) won by Brooklyn Strong at Aqueduct on Dec. 5 and fifth in the Sam Davis (G3) at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 6, Known Agenda looks to be a “getting good at the right time” horse with the addition of blinkers for his last two races. Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. is a plus, even among the world’s best and post one. Known Agenda #2 Like the King, 50-1 Won the Grade 3 Jeff Ruby Steaks at Turfway Park in his last race and his first career victory was on turf, so rac- ing on dirt for him is a question mark. In two starts on dirt, he was second in his career debut in July and third against allowance horses at Keeneland in October. Metier was a decent performer on the flat in Ireland and has progressed from race to race over hurdles since moving to Harry Fry. He is a strong stayer who performs well on soft ground. It is taken as fact that the course will be prepared to ride no firmer than Good to Soft on the opening day. Soaring Glory showed marked improvement when impressively winning the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury. He appears to be less dependent on ground conditions than Metier and looks sure to figure.
