Moving the Toolbar Position the mouse pointer at the top of the toolbar near the Interwrite . Click and drag the toolbar to new location.

Resizing the Toolbar Position the mouse pointer on the edge of the Toolbar until a double-headed arrow appears. Click and drag the double-headed arrow to change the size and layout of the Toolbar.

Toolbar Settings

Click on the Workspace and select Preferences. Click on the Toolbar Settings . Under the section Shape Files, select a desired shape. A preview will display. Under the section Toolbar Button Size in Pixels, select the desired size. Click Ok.

Enable the K-6 Toolbar

Click on the Workspace Menu button . Select Preferences. Click on Toolbar Settings tab. Check the Show K-6 Toolbar box. Click Ok.

Enable Properties with Right Click

Click on the Workspace Menu button . Select Preferences. Click on Toolbar Settings tab. Check the Use Right Click for Settings/Properties box. Click Ok.

Customized Toolbar

Click on the Workspace Menu button . Select Preferences. Click on the Customize Toolbar tab. Drag and drop items to and from the Main Toolbar area or the Toolbox area

Click to draw with two colors. Gradient Style: The color, line width, and transparency properties to the left on the property bar defined the starting color, and properties to the right define the ending color. Multicolor Pen Color On Color Style: The color, line width, and transparency properties to the left of the property bar define the outside, border color, and the properties to the right define the inside color.

Click to draw quick shapes or images in a line or pattern as drawn. The currently selected picture is displayed on the left side of the property bar. Click on the picture to access a menu of different pictures. Picture Pen Click on the line width property to select size. Click on the Add Picture button to add a new picture to the picture menu. Note: Images must be in a BMP, GIF, JPEG, TIFF, or PNG format type.

Use the drag handles to resize the curtain. Curtain The curtain properties bar gives maximize and transparency options, and closes the tool.

Click to capture items, windows, or screens from the computer screen or Workspace page. Click on the Capture tool . Select an option from the Capture : o Partial – Use the mouse to highlight any size rectangle area Capture on the screen and capture that area as an image. o Freeform – Use the mouse to draw around an area on the

screen that will be captured as an image. o Window – Use to capture the foremost window, or move cursor to other windows, as an image. o Screen – Use to capture the entire screen as an image. Place a checkmark in the box next to Place capture in new page option to automatically create a blank page in Workspace with the newly captured image. Uncheck to place on the same blank page as previously created page. Click to create videos of lesson or from computer screen. Click on the Toolbox button to record a lesson. Select the Record and Playback tool. A Recorder window will display. Click on the Record button to begin recording. Cursor will flash and timer will begin. All actions on screen and sound (if microphone is attached Record and Playback and enabled) are recorded. Click on Stop button to end recording. Choose location and type in a name for recording. Click Ok to save file. Click on the Toolbox button to play a lesson. Select the Record and Playback tool. A Recorder window will display. Select File → Open and choose a recorded lesson .avi file. Click on the Play button to begin playback.

Layers Toolbar Click the Add Layer button . The Layer Toolbar has additional options such as moving layers up/down, selecting layers, showing/hiding layers, editinig layers, and deleting layers. Click and drag to create lines on the screen or Workspace page. Note: Use the selection tool to select the line and then use the four- Line Tool headed arrows to change the angle or length of the line. Use the eraser tool to cut the line in parts maintaining the endpoints chosen for the original line. Click on the text tool then click on the page where the text will be placed and type text into the box that appears. Text Tool Click on the Duplicate Text button to create a new copy of the with the same text. Click on the Split Text button to separate multiple words into their own individual text boxes. Use the Recycle Bin to delete selected objects from the page Recycle Bin by dragging the selected object over to the Recycle Bin. The lid will go up when the object can be dropped in.

This tool gives the option to redo, undo, cut, copy, paste, select all, arrange, rotate, group, export, move to background, move to gallery, etc., by using the property bar.

Use the selection tool to click on text, lines, shapes or images on a Workspace page. A bounding box will appear around the item selected. Options for that item will appear in the property bar at the bottom of the screen. Select desired options to change previous options. To move, resize, or rotate an item: Move: Select an item to get the four-headed arrow. Drag item to new location. Selection Tool Resize: Select an item. Click on the resize icon at the lower right corner of the selection bounding box and drag box to new size. Rotate: Select an item. Click on the rotate icon at the top center of the selection bounding box and drag box to new angle. To lock or easily copy multiple copies of an item: Lock: Select an item. Click on the Lock Tool . This wil display a lock icon on the item when it is selected. Copier: Select an item. Click on the Copier Tool . Click and drag as many times as desired to get copies of the item. This will diplay a copier icon on the item when it is selected.

Page Background After selecting, the Colors opens. Select the color Color desired, and click OK. Transparency of After selecting, choose the transparency required from the Page pop-up. Select desired transition Page Transitions and speed, and click OK. After selecting, the scroll bars display within the Annotation window, and also display the Windows Task Bar. Using this Window Sizing Mode function allows you to move between pages in Workspace using the scroll bars. Workspace automatically aligns text, pictures, and other objects as placed or moved on the page by snapping them to Snap To Grid an invisible grid. When Snap To Grid is turned off, Workspace

allows placement or movement of items anywhere on the page. Select an item. Click on the Lock Tool. This wil display a lock Lock icon on the item when it is selected. Select an item. Click on the Copier Tool. Click and drag as Copier many times as desired to get copies of the item. This will

display a copier icon on the item when it is selected. Select an item. Click on the Links tool to create a link for the Link selected item.

The Toolbox

Click on the Toolbox tool on the toolbar. A sub-menu will appear displaying additional tools available in Workspace.

Tool Name Description

Open ExamView File Opens an Exam View file for use in Workspace.

Obtain images, documents, or other files from a device such as Import from a Device a scanner or a digital camera and insert them into Workspace. Adds page with background image, such as a music staff or graphs. Select desired background image from the list or browse to choose Create Image Page a file. Select between replacing the existing page with the chosen background or creating a new page.

Click on the Spotlight icon. Use the cursor to drag the Spotlight. When done, click on the Close Spotlight Spotlight button at the bottom of the screen. The spotlight properties bar has resize handles, gives a menu option for shapes, transparency and window color, and closes the tool. Link History is an account of the GWB links. It maintains a record of back links, allowing a click to follow the history of the links and go back to any one of the links during the current Link History session. This tool is available only when a presentation file is open in the Annotation Window and a GWB link has been executed.

Zoom Enlarges a portion of a Workspace page for viewing details.

Create Duplicate Duplicates current page into new page. Page Adds a new page with a calendar to the Workspace file. Select and preview a one week, one-, two-, three-, or four-month Create Calendar calendar. Indicate a starting Month and Year (the current Page month and year is the default), and choose a Background Color for the calendar. Create Gradient Adds a gradient page to the presentation file. Page Flash Player Imports an interactive Flash (.swf) file into Workspace.

Imports an audio file and virtual player into Workspace. Go to the toolbox. Select Audio File. Browse to the file Audio File desired. Click Ok. A player box will appear. Press play. The Audio player box gives the options to play, pause, stop, or change the volume of the audio file.

Select Video File. Browse to the file desired. Video File Click Ok. A player box will appear. Press play. When selecting annotation tools, the video will automatically pause to make notes on the video. To resume the video, click on play.

Export PDF File Exports Workspace lesson to Portable Document Format.

Exports Workspace lesson to PDF and opens default email E-mail PDF File client. Moves a page up, down, left, and right when viewing area is Pan Page larger than the screen. Opens virtual keyboard on screen. Onscreen Keyboard Note: When changing options for the keyboard it will only affect the keyboard itself. It will not affect the font or text. Locks all wireless pads connected to Workspace except the Lock Pads Master pad. Start Internet Opens default Web browser. Browser Page Up Moves to page above.

Page Down Moves to page below.

Insert Media Imports audio, video, or image files into Workspace.

Opens the Device Manager window for connecting or Device Manager disconnecting devices, such as the board, panel, or pads. Redo Reapplies a change that was recently undone.

Preferences Opens the Workspace Preferences window.

Freehand Text Opens window for freehand text recognition. Recognition

Click on the Timer icon . Timer Set the timer to timer or stopwatch. Click on the Set Timer drop-down arrow to select the length of time. Click on Start to begin.

Freehand Text Recognition Use this tool to convert handwritten text into typed text and to insert the typed text into an active application, such as Word, or Excel. The Freehand Text Recognition dialog provides a spelling checker and the ability to insert Carriage Return, Space, Tab and Backspace characters into the text. Select the language preferred for handwritten text recognition in Preferences/Select Language.

Freehand Text Recognition Tools Tool Name Description Spell Check the text before inserting it into the application that Spell Check has focus. The spell check dictionary can be edited in Preferences/Select Language. Clear Text Delete the text in the window.

When the Auto Text Insert feature is Off, click on the Insert Text tool to manually insert the text into the document that Insert

has focus (in Excel, the last active cell; in Word, the last cursor position). Carriage Return Insert a Carriage Return at the cursor.

Insert Space Insert a Space at the cursor.

Insert Tab Insert a Tab at the cursor.

Insert Backspace Delete the previous character.

When the Auto Text Insert feature is On, converted text will be inserted automatically into the document that has focus. This tool is a toggle, which can be clicked to turn it On and Off. If a Auto Text Insert

document has not been selected, the Freehand Text Recognition tool will prompt you to indicate where the text is to be inserted.

o Click on the Workspace Menu button and select Preferences. o Click on Gradient Page Setup tab at the top of the window. o Select the desired options. o Click Ok.

o Click on the Workspace Menu button . o Select Pages. o Click on Create Gradient Page.

Calendar Pages To create a calendar page:

o Click on the Workspace Menu button . o Select Pages. o Click on the Create Calendar Page. o Select the desired options. o Click Ok.

Page Transitions Open a page in Lesson Mode. Note: Make sure the page properties are displayed at the bottom of the page by choosing the Selection tool.

Click on the Page Transitions button . Select the transition and the speed desired from the drop down menu. A preview of the transition will display. Select Apply to All if you desire the same transition for all the pages in the file and click Ok.

Resources from Gallery Image Type Description Background: The folded corner indicates this image takes the whole screen and it is used as a background on a Workspace page. Image: A single image can be resized, moved, or rotated on a Workspace page by using the selection tool and then clicking and dragging the item. Sims: The symbol indicates that this is an interactive program made in Flash that includes animation, sound, or games. These Sims are provided free with Interwrite Workspace. Note: Many of the Sims do not include instructions and require some playing in order to learn how to use them.

Searching for Resources Type a keyword in the text field at the top of the Gallery window.

Click on the Keyword Search button . Scroll through the resources in the lower window to find search matches.

Add Media from Selection

Click on the Gallery button . Select a Folder Category or create a new category.

Click the Selection tool . Click to select an item on the current Workspace page. Drag the item to the Gallery.

OR Click on the Add Files to Gallery button on the Property bar. Select Add Selection to Gallery.

Add Media from File

Click on the Gallery button . Select a Folder Category or create a new category. Select the picture, link, PDF, etc. and drag it to the Interwrite Gallery with the mouse or pen. OR Click on the Gallery File Menu.

Remove Media from Gallery

Select the item to be deleted and click on the delete button . Right click on the desired resource to be removed in the lower Gallery window. Select Delete. eI Community The eI Community allows upload and download of files for use in Workspace. Resources are available for drag and drop into the Gallery or a Workspace page. Register at www.eicommunity.com. To access eI Community, open the Gallery. Click on the Gallery File Menu. Select eI Community Portal. In the eI Community Login window, the URL field should direct you to www.eicommunity.com. Type your user name in the User ID field. Type your password in the Password field. Note: If you want Workspace to remember your information, select the Remember my password . Click OK. The eI Community Portal opens in a new window. Images

Using Transparency with Images When pictures are inserted into a Workspace page or the gallery, they have a background color. This color will cover any objects below. Click on the Menu button and select Preferences. Click on the Transparency and Languages tab. By having the Use Transparency box checked, the background color will be drawn using a transparent color allowing the objects below to show through.

Export Entities as Images This tool allows saving of annotations as image files. Save the image to a location other than the Gallery with this option.

Use the Selection tool to select the annotation.

Click on Export Entities at bottom of the screen. Select the file type and name. Click on the Export Button. Using Snap to Grid Workspace automatically aligns text, pictures, and other objects as you place or move them on the page by snapping them to an invisible grid. When Snap to Grid is turned off, Workspace lets you place or move items anywhere on the page.

Use the Snap to Grid button to turn on or off this feature. Click on Workspace Menu →Preferences →Options to make the grid visible and to size the grid.

Multi-User With the DualBoard interactive whiteboard two people can write on the board at the same time. With multiple Pads or Mobis, more than one can write on the screen at a time. Using a Bluetooth dongle up to seven devices may be connected to the computer at once. Using the Multi-User option in the software and RF receivers with the Mobi or DualBoard up to 9 devices can be writing on the screen at once.

Setting Up Multi-User First connect all devices to be used in the Device Manager window. Open Interactive Mode and create a blank page.

Click on the Multi-User icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Note: The connected devices will be displayed. Select Multi-User Page Setup. Select the page layout desired. Select each device and drag it to the area desired. Note: Do not add the pad needed for controlling the Main Toolbar and the other devices. If this happens, the only way to

Click Ok. Each device in the page layout will have its own simplified toolbar. At the top of each user area are Instructor tools.

o The Zoom User tool enlarges an individual user’s work within the entire multi-user window.

o The Return to Settings tool returns the user back to multi-user view.

o The Move User tool allows the instructor to move the user to another area within the Workspace page.

Multi-User Individual Toolbar Tool Icon Name Description Allows the user to select within his or her Select window. Manually removes text or annotations within the Erase user's window. Delete the selected object or objects. If nothing is selected on the page, the Clear tool deletes Clear everything on the page within that user's window. Pen Annotate within the user window.

Pen Color Changes the color of the pen.

Pen Width Increases the width of the pen line.

Instructor Function allowing the instructor to Export export that particular user's work to save into Entities another format. See page 17 for more information. Show/Hide Instructor Function allowing the instructor to Multi-User show or hide that particular user's window.

Show Tablet ID on Cursor Go to Preferences. Choose the Options tab. Check the Show Tablet ID on Cursor option. Click OK.

Set Presenter Open the Device Manager window. Select the device desired to be the master pad. Click on the Options menu. Select Set Presenter. Click Ok.

Locking Pads Open the Device Manager window. Select the device to be locked.

Click on the Lock Pad icon . To unlock, select the device and click on the Unlock Pad icon

A lock all/unlock all pads button is also located in the Toolbox on the Workspace Toolbar.

Programming Soft Keys The Board, Pad, and Mobi have programmable Soft Keys or short-cut keys. Note: The Board has three programmable keys, the Pad has nineteen, and the Mobi has fourteen. The Soft Keys can be programmed to be another tool, function, webpage, program launch, document, or keyboard function. For blank templates to create a customized pad insert go to http://www.einstruction.com/support_downloads/interactive_teaching/pad/index.html . To program the Soft Keys on the Board, Pad, or Mobi:

o Click on the eInstruction icon in your system tray. o Select Device Manager. o Select the device from the Device manager window. o Click on Options and select Properties or

click on the Properties tool . o Click on the Softkeys tab in the Properties window. o Select the softkey you want to change.

Programming Custom Buttons for the Pad or Mobi Click on the Menu button. Select Preferences. Click on the Toolbar Settings tab. In the Custom Buttons area select a button. Type in a description. Select Application path or Link. Click OK.

Saving and Exporting Files Click on the Save button on the toolbar or click on the Menu button and select File → Save or Save As. This saves the file as a .gwb file type. To save files in a different format, press ctrl+E to open the Export Current Pages window. Select the desired format from the Export As drop-down . In the Export File Name field, type the new name of the file. In the Export Directory, use the default location or click Browse to open the Browse for Export Folder window and save the file in the location needed. In the Range field, select All or select Pages and type the range of pages to save. Click Export. The file is saved to the selected format and location.
