Backnrou nd 2.1 Reference is made to the Road Works Programme interim report made to committee on the 5 October 2005 2.2 Last financial year the Revenue and Capital allocations to Roads, Traffic and Lighting were maintained at a similar level to the previous year. This allocation has enabled the department to carry out a substantial works programme of asset renewal activities during the last financial year. 3. Programme 3.1 The works programmed to start in the last financial year in Northern Area is detailed in the attached appendix A. The total value of this asset renewal was f2,636,956.This programme of work was designed to complement the reactive works activities and extend the useful life of the assets, which comprise the road network. 3.2 The budget available for asset renewal in the forthcoming financial year is estimated to be f2,620,000.Programmes of work are currently being compiled and once complete these will be reported to committee. 4.
