14 15 Club Statistics The number of clubs with over 100 competing members remained the same as 2008-09 at 15, however Box Hill rejoined the 200+ club, making four clubs in total to achieve this mark. A numeric summary of the clubs to achieve these marks follows:

Of the 59 clubs affiliated in 2009-10, 32 experienced membership growth, 2 remained the same, while 25 clubs experienced reduced membership. Of the clubs with lower membership, 16 clubs lost 5 or less members whilst a further 7 clubs lost between 6 and 9 members.

The biggest growth club in 2009-10 was Casey Cardinia with a 50% increase in membership, with the Corio club not too far behind rising 45%. In terms of pure numbers, Box Hill grew the most with 32 more members than the previous year, while Glenhuntly were bigger by 21 members.

Other clubs to demonstrate good growth included Maccabi up 26.5%, Old Melburnians and South Coast both up 21%, and Bendigo YMCA up 20%.

No new clubs were formed in 2009-10, however work has commenced in the Craigieburn area, with an alliance being formed between interested parties in Craigieburn and the Brunswick Athletics club to foster the development of a club in the region over coming years.

Of the three clubs existent in 2008-09, but not in 2009-10, the Wangaratta Harriers have decided to decided to go into recess until more members can be found, whilst the Warrnambool Athletics Club and Victorian Masters Association became Specialist Groups.
