APPOINTMENT OF NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER AT JTC CORPORATION

Mr Manohar Khiatani, currently Deputy Managing Director of the Economic Development Board (EDB), will be appointed as Chief Executive Officer of JTC Corporation (JTC) w.e.f. 1 October 2009. He will take over from Mrs Ow Foong Pheng, who will be appointed as Second Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade and Industry on the same date.

2 Mr Manohar Khiatani, 50, a Government Scholar, holds a Masters Degree (Naval Architecture) from the University of Hamburg, Germany. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School in 2006.

3 Mr Khiatani joined EDB in 1986 and held several posts before being promoted to Regional Director, Europe in 1993. He left EDB in 1994 for the private sector when he became Managing Director of Preussag SEA, a diversified German conglomerate. In 1999, he re-joined EDB where he has held several posts such as Director, Europe; Director, Logistics & Transport Engineering; before being appointed as Assistant Managing Director, Industry Development in Feb 2007. He assumed his current position of Deputy Managing Director in Feb 2009.

4 Mr Khiatani has played an instrumental role in the development and transformation of important sectors in Singapore’s economy such as Electronics, Transport Engineering, Precision Engineering, Logistics, InfoComms and Media, and

Clean Technology. Mr Khiatani also oversees EDB’s operations in the Americas and Europe.

5 Mr Khiatani brings with him more than 20 years of extensive experience in industrial development, and is in a good position to lead JTC to promote and develop a dynamic industrial landscape to support Singapore’s economic advancement. His deep knowledge of industry and companies will enable him to lead JTC in offering unique and innovative industrial solutions for its customers.

Mrs Ow Foong Pheng

6 Mrs Ow Foong Pheng, 45, has been CEO of JTC Corporation since August 2006. Under her able leadership, JTC was restructured to focus on creating a dynamic industrial landscape in Singapore where more players and developers can participate.

7 She spearheaded the divestment of JTC’s high-rise ready-built properties to Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd. The divestment promotes competitiveness and vibrancy in the industrial property market, and at the same time, enables JTC to focus on being a strategic infrastructure provider to support Singapore’s economic growth and position Singapore as the choice investment location.

8 Under her charge, a number of large scale and specialised projects to support the growth of new industry clusters were started. These included the construction of Rock Cavern; master planning and development of Seletar Aero+sPace; development of Phase 2A at one-north; and master planning of Mediapolis at one-north.

9 Mrs Ow also supported the development of innovative projects such as very large floating structures which could function as storage facilities; an underground science city for research and development activities; and a new eco-friendly drainage system that would improve the quality of storm-water discharge from our industrial parks.

10 Under Mrs Ow’s leadership, JTC continued to take strides towards organisational excellence. It won several awards and accolades, such as the People Developer Standard, Singapore Quality Class, Singapore Service Class, Singapore Innovation Class and the PS 21 Distinguished Public Service Award for Organisational Excellence.

11 An Overseas Merit Scholar, Mrs Ow joined the Administrative Service in 1986 after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree (Political Science, Philosophy and Economics), from the University of Oxford, UK. She obtained a Master of Science in Management from Stanford University in 1996. Prior to joining JTC, she was with the Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Home Affairs as Deputy Secretary. Her previous appointments were in the Ministries of Education, National Development, Finance, Defence and Home Affairs and Manpower.
