Non-Need Based Aid

Federal • Unsubsidized Stafford Loan o Fixed interest rate of 4.45% repayable after you graduate or cease to be enrolled on at least a half-time basis. o You must complete a FAFSA to receive loan and be sure to list Flagler College’s Title IV Code on the form 007893 o The maximum amount available for an academic year are as follows: Freshmen, $3,500; Sophomore, $4,500; Junior/Senior, $5,500 • Parent Loan (Plus) o Fixed interest rate loan at 7% is available to parents of dependent students o Repayment begins 60 days after the first disbursement o The maximum amount available is determined by subtracting all financial aid the student is receiving from the Cost of Attendance o You must complete the FAFSA and be sure to include Flagler College’s Title IV Code on the form 007893 o A separate Federal Direct Plus Loan application must be submitted; it is available here o For additional information, please visit Federal Student Aid or Direct Loans

State of The State of Florida offers a number of non-need based scholarships to freshmen. These scholarships include: Florida Academic Scholars Scholarship, Florida Top Scholars Scholarship, Florida Medallion Scholarship, Robert Byrd Scholarship, and the Chappie James Scholarship.

Financial aid programs sponsored by the State of Florida involving an submitted application to Flagler College are outlined below:

• Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG) o The FRAG was created by the 1979 Florida Legislature to provide tuition assistance to resident students attending eligible nonprofit private colleges and universities located in the state. Funds for the support of the FRAG are contingent each year on the appropriations made available by the Florida legislature o For dependent students: In order to receive the FRAG, at least one of the dependent student’s parents must have been a Florida resident for one year prior to first day of class for the semester o For independent students: The student must have been a Florida resident for at least one year for other than educational purposes prior to the first day of classes of the semester o Additional requirements . Students must be enrolled on a full-time basis (12 hours or more) . Students must be pursuing his/her first undergraduate Bachelors degree . Students must meet satisfactory Academic Progress requirements including, but not limited to: maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and earning 12 hours for each semester FRAG is received o Students can receive FRAG for a maximum of 9 semesters o To receive this grant, please complete and submit the Florida Residency Affidavit which is available on the “Forms” tab on Financial Aid Online Office of Financial Aid

• Florida Minority Teacher Scholarship This scholarship was designed to attract minority students to teaching careers in the State of Florida. o The scholarship is $4,000 per year o Eligible students include African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Hispanic-Americans and Native Americans. o Students must be a Florida resident, a Junior or Senior, an accepted into the Teaching Education Program at Flagler College • Florida Prepaid o After a student is accepted to Flagler College, students should click on the “Business Services,” Flagler College • Annual Scholarship A number of scholarships are available on a year-to-year basis. These scholarships are provided by individuals or organizations who specify the eligibility requirements o Requirements vary and may include: academic record, major, intended career and area of residency o Full-time enrollment is required o Publicized as they become available and applications instructions are available • Athletic Scholarship o Men’s . . . Tennis . • Work Program o Job opportunities are listed on the flagler.edu website o The normal work week is 6 hours a week o The standard work award is $700 per semester • Lewis-Wiley Scholar Awards The funds for the Lewis-Wiley Scholarship are provided by a private trust established by Mr. Lawrence Lewis and his sister, Mrs. James L. Wiley o 2 awards annually o Available to high school seniors that have demonstrated exceptional academic need or achievement o Merit-based
