Dear Visitors, Welcome to Israel! Dear visitors, welcome to Israel! The National Public Transportation Authority at the Ministry of Transportation is happy to help you travel to various tourism sites in Israel, easily, comfortably and affordably. It's important to know that Israel is divided, from north to south, into four major metropolitan areas: Haifa, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Beersheba, and every settlement is associated with one of these metropolitan areas and its surroundings. Each of these four metropolitan areas are served by a public transportation system consisting of city and intercity bus lines, the national railways and local transportation facilities such as the Jerusalem Light Rail and the Haifa Carmelit and Metronit. With "Rav-Kav" (literally: "multi-line"), Israel's rechargeable transport ticket, you can enjoy unlimited transportation by bus, train, Metronit and the Light Rail, individually or a combination thereof, in the metropolitan area of your choice. So… have a great visit! Transport tickets and subscription types: Rechargeable "Anonymous Rav-Kav" This ticket costs 5 NIS, and can be purchased directly from bus drivers or at central stations, large train stations, service stations or the Light Rail service center in Jerusalem. You can charge this ticket with any of the following travel subscriptions: 1. Metropolitan "Unlimited Daily" or "Unlimited Weekly" – a subscription that allows unlimited travel by public transportation in the selected area: busses, train and the Light Rail. The subscription is valid from the beginning of each day or calendar week until its end, from the beginning of public transportation service in the morning until its end at night, and is adjusted to each metropolitan ring or combination of rings. 2. The Israel Railways sells anonymous Rav-Kav tickets that can be charged with Unlimited Daily or Unlimited Weekly (flexible) valid for 7 days from the date of purchase, round-trip tickets and 12-journey tickets. 3. "Accrued Value" – a subscription that allows charging your ticket with sums of 30, 50, 100 or 200 NIS for use on journeys in any public transportation line or train. A special 20% discount will be provided at the time of charging. • Pre-Qualify for the Design-Build of Israel Railway's ETCS L2 Onboard Project
ISRAEL RAILWAYS LTD Development Division ,Signalling & Technology Div. Pre-Qualify for the Design-Build of Israel Railway's ETCS L2 Onboard Project General Technical Description 5 January 2016 ERTMS Project Page 1 of 12 ISRAEL RAILWAYS LTD Development Division ,Signalling & Technology Div. Chapter I- Project Background Facing a continuously growing demand in passenger and freight traffic, Israel Railways has to cope with an increasing number of trains. In the core network, there is the need to raise capacity significantly. In addition, the existing ATP system is subject to safety shortcomings, which can be mitigated by means of a Full Supervision ATC approach. Both reasons have led to the intention to introduce ETCS Level 2 on the Israeli network. In this chapter, details on the current situation and the motivation are provided. The current line length of Israel’s Railway Network is about 625 km. The total track length is about 1,175 km. This number includes the tracks of both directions and some station tracks. The signalling system is based on electronic and relay interlocking, using axle counters as well as isolated track circuits as a train detection system. A variant of INDUSI I60R is applied as an automatic train detection system and the signalling scheme is close to German H/V signalling. Nowadays, Israel’s Railway Network is within a development process. There are several new lines which are already under construction: Fast Track to Jerusalem: Tzomet Daniel – Jerusalem Ha’Uma Link from Ra‘anana to Coastal Line Ako-Carmiel Line Haifa- Beit Shean Line There are also some other planned lines that will connect relevant economic areas.

  • LRT Jerusalem Blue Line
Opening words Following the successful Tender process for the J-NET project, the Ministry of Finance, the Jerusalem Municipality and the Jerusalem Transportation Master Plan Team are intending to publish, during 2020, the Tender for the Blue Line project. The Blue Line will be the third in the city's light rail network. Once completed, approximately 600 thousand of the city's residents and visitors will enjoy an integrated reliable, readily- available and safe light rail network. Jerusalem - General statistics LRT Vision for Jerusalem The objective of the Jerusalem Transportation Master Plan Team is to transform the Light Rail Network in Jerusalem into the central mode of transportation for approximately 40% of the city's residents and visitors. Currently, approximately 15% of private vehicle owners living along the route of the Red Line choose to use the light rail for their daily commute. This fact only serves to strengthen the feasibility of the Jerusalem Transportation Master Plan's objective. The development of the network is based on the Principle of Walkability. When completed, 600 thousand Jerusalem residents will benefit from a light rail station located approximately only 300 meters from their home, workplace, place of study, and cultural centers. As part of the work on the network, extensive infrastructure and development work is done in order to restore the urban space for all city residents, thereby contributing to their mobility and to the promotion of fundamental transportation justice in the city. The Light Rail Network in Jerusalem: 3 Lines, 600 Thousand Trips a Day Once completed, the Jerusalem light rail network will include three main corridors (the Red, the Green and the Blue) which will traverse the city in all directions: Presently, the Red Line, Israel's first light rail line, provides a convenient and fast solution for more than 150 thousand passengers a day who seek to travel within the city.

Built along the Mediterranean and atop the Carmel Range, Haifa is dripping with greenery and natural flora and fauna anywhere you look. Get To Know Haifa Since ancient times and up until today, Haifa is one of the country’s two main port towns, with much of the Israel’s imported goods passing through its gates. Haifa’s geographical conditions - plain by the sea and hilly and steep as you head up; divide the city into two main parts - downtown and uptown, both internally divided again into many different suburbs and neighborhoods. Each area of Haifa is uniquely characterized - the city’s downtown, in close proximity to the port, is much more industrial, grubby and commerce-oriented, yet full of some of the city’s best restaurants, pubs and night clubs. Predominantly Arab, this authentic part of town preserved some of its historical nature, both in its culture and its architecture; beautiful, old, dilapidated buildings dating back to the Ottoman Empire years, are dotted all throughout, amidst some of Israel’s finest Arab restaurants and eateries. As you head up towards the city's uptown part, the stunning scenery of Haifa’s Bay is revealed in all its glory. The city’s uptown neighborhoods are relatively newer, most of which are draped in local flora and fauna, making for beautiful drives around the city, as well as a green balance for the heavy pollution downtown.
