Annual Layette Tea

Program for the afternoon:  Prayer and Welcome  Speakers  Entertainment  Basket Raffle-to provide further funding for The Layette ministry  Refreshments-Courtesy of YLI, District 13 and Columbia’s Holy Family

INFANT ITEMS NEEDED and DONATIONS ALSO NEEDED , , and play (one-piece), undershirts and bottoms (onesies), receiving blankets, crib blankets or , blanket sleepers, rubber pants, booties, , infant sets, disposable .

Layette Celebration A newborn baby receives the following layette:

 3 Undershirts  3 receiving blankets  3 Gowns, long  1 pack of diapers & wipes  3 Sleep and play coveralls  2 pair  3 onesies  1  3 sacques or short gowns  1 play outfit

 1 dressy outfit (if we have it)  1 crib blanket/  1 sweater set  1 pair booties  1 doz. disposable diapers  1 toy (if we have it)

Approximate value of each layette is $400 Checks in partial or full amount of the cost layette are also gratefully accepted.

The layette program needs items and size newborn to six months only.

 200 Boy’s outfits  400 diapers and wipes  250  400 crib size blankets/quilts  400 play outfits  800 onesies  400 blanket sleepers  1,200 sleep/pay coveralls

 1200 short gowns  1600 receiving blankets  1600 long gowns  1600 undershirts  1600 pairs bootie socks

Please consider giving hand-made items or purchasing new ones. We are also in need of new infant car seats and new cribs.

Note: Due to space availability please limit your display to one half of the table and store extra items in boxes under the tables or we can help you load them into the truck before the Celebration begins.

Suggestions for Baskets

Let Your Imagination Be Your Guide!

Cheese and Wine: Several different cheeses and spreads such as Gouda, edam, Brie, Alouette, and fancy crackers, with a Merlot, Chardonnay, Riesling or your favorite wine and two wine .

Fruit and Flowers: Fruits of the season (pears, apples, oranges, mandarins,) nuts of all sorts, with a baby Chrysanthemum or Christmas tree seedling.

Plants: Ivies with coleus, philodendron, ferns; check with your florist or buy at the grocery store.

Deli: Gourmet cheeses, salamis, pates, hams, smoked salmon, various mustards, crackers, miniature rye breads.

Italian Food: Various pastas, homemade spaghetti sauce, bottled antipastos, garlic spreads or oils, parmesan cheese, breadsticks, wine, biscotti with red and white napkins.

Sachets and Soaps: Explore “Crabtree and Evelyn” or your local drug store for a variety of your favorites. Add a gift certificate for a massage or manicure.

Bath: Miniature soaps, bath oils, bubble bath, aromatherapy, a couple luxurious towels and your favorite book.

Kitchen: Potted herbs, kitchen prayer, hot pads and , towels, unusual tools, colorful trivet, candles, tablecloth, napkins and napkin rings.

Mexican Food: Flour and Corn tortillas, glass container with mole, Las Palmas Enchilada sauce, El Mexicano queso fresco, pinto beans, salsa and chips, jalapenos, margarita mix, miniature sombrero with salt, assorted galletas, Abuelita barra de chocolate and little cactus plant.

Winter Picnic: , canned soup, French bread rolls, hot chocolate mix, cider, marshmallows, cookies, fireplace matches, pine cones, miniature chess set or pack of cards.
