THE COMPLETE BACH SUITES MARCH 6, 2016 @ 4pm With Cellist DALE HENDERSON Founder of the Global Phenomenon Bach in the Subways http://suitesraiser2016.brownpapertickets.com

Los Angeles – “Bach in the Subways” founder DALE HENDERSON, talented New York cellist who in 2010 began performing the music of J.S. Bach in the subways of New York in an effort to bring to a wider audience, will give a one-time only performance of the complete Bach Cello Suites as a fundraiser for Bach in the Subways L.A.

In selecting the Cello Suites for this fundraiser Henderson takes his cue from world-renown Catalan cellist Pablo Casals, who in 1890 discovered the music for the then forgotten Bach Cello Suites in a Barcelona thrift shop and made it his mission to give them new life through performance. In a similar fashion, Henderson has made it his mission to reinvigorate and re-popularize Bach and classical music in general through his own performances, and by inviting musicians worldwide to take to the streets of their cities with Bach in the Subways and perform the J.S. Bach repertoire in pop-up concerts in public spaces.

Henderson will perform the complete Bach Cello Suites at the historic PICO UNION PROJECT near downtown. The intimate space is L.A.'s oldest synagogue and the original home of Sinai Temple before becoming the church home for a Welsh Presbyterian congregation. Today, it is a beautiful communal space for both the sacred and secular, reflecting the multi-ethnic aspects of this immigrant neighborhood.

WHEN: Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 4:00pm WHERE: PICO UNION PROJECT * 1153 Valencia St., Los Angeles, CA 90015 * Ph. (818) 760-1077 PRE-SALE TICKETS: $40 at http://suitesraiser2016.brownpapertickets.com/

This is a “SuitesRaiser” to raise funds for the operational costs of the community-minded, volunteer-run, international musical movement, “Bach in the Subways,” which takes place this year on March 19-21.
